Dash Cam in ‘21G550

Picked Blackvue as it is a respected brand in regards to dash cams.
App with maps & gps tracking, speed traveling recorded, etc…
The battery backup allows it to record 24/7 (unless I didn’t drive the vehicle for a while).
Notifications to my phone for “impact detected.”
Install was clean (I had the install done professionally).
Wires to rear camera are run through the factory wiring harness door seal thingy.

I didn't do the trunk camera tho. Tapped both dash cam and radar into one fuse

cheers.

I actually used to be a cop and always laughed at radar detectors, as I always used point and shoot type radar. (Meaning the radar gun wasn’t transmitting unless I was holding the trigger). However, that was a long time ago. In my area (on hwys) the cops seems to always have their radar on, making it easier to detect.
The R7 can easily display radar with plenty of time to check your speed, the range amazes me. Over a mile is not uncommon.
Different areas/countries use different type of radar, for my situation, where cops all seem to use KA band, the Uniden is amazing. My wife borrowed it from me for a road trip, when she got back she asked me to order one for her…now we have 2.
The downside of the R7 is it feels cheap, it is pretty lightweight….but it works, so I don’t care.
Also, Uniden now has auto-gps lockouts, which uses gps to detect and block false alerts.

Currently with regards to Radar Scanners, I am merely researching and window shopping as my need is not great, yet I’d like to have it and not need it rather need it and not have one. Here in Japan I can sensibly speed up when the need or whim calls for it without being stupid about if if you know what I mean.
👍😄

As another member added Valentine is good, escort has a good one as well.
I would recommend checking out “Vortex Radar” on YouTube. The guy does reviews and tests of all of the popular radar and dashcam systems.
I looked at the thinkware u1000, found the camera was to large and looked kind of weird on the windshield.
