2021 G63 Build - 700HP63

Finally got most of the build done, and some pictures taken. We wanted to do something different, so we went with champagne gold accents. We love the way it turned out, but understand it isn't for everyone. It's just nice to have something a bit different than all the other G's rolling around. It definitely stands out!

Specs:
  • LeTech 50mm suspension lift.
  • 22x10.5 AG Luxury AGL19 Three piece wheels - brushed face, polished lip, black barrel, exposed hardware.
  • T33x12.50r22 Toyo Open Country MT tires.
  • Mansory LED lights in lower bumper.
  • FiExhaust valved exhaust system with custom powdercoated tips.
  • Color matched badging, emblems, tire cover, and grille guard.
  • Escort 360 hardwired radar detector with laser shifters.
  • Renntech tune (731HP/786TQ)
Still need to make one more exhaust modification to make it a little louder (hopefully), and wait for the engine to get to 1,000 miles so we can see what the Renntech tune can really do to wake this thing up.

Not my style but the execution looks clean as heck, congrats! My humble suggestion would be to also smoke your headlights and turn signals since you've already smoked the tail lights.

Thanks. Yeah, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I appreciate the compliment on the execution.

We decided not to smoke the headlights and turns even though the taillights got smoked. Essentially just wanted to get rid of red and orange lights and keep the headlights matching the Mansory LEDs.

I appreciate you've gone for something different! Precise reason why Im going for China blue to make it stand out amongst all the black/matte black/grey ones.
Totally subjective but pretty much the only reason Im going to opt for the night package is because it makes the outer circle LED stand out more and give it more of a halo eyes look.

nice build. have you noticed if the front radar signal get a bit attenuated because the radar receiver is behind the mesh grille? where did you end up putting the display and the controller for the maxci360?

Thanks. We have noticed that it tends to false K band more frequently than it used to on other G Wagons we have had them in. I still need to call Escort to see if they have a solution. I can't tell if it is placement of the receiver, or maybe the band of radar the G Wagons use for their LKA/Distronic Plus. The display is right above the rear view mirror, and the controller is on a custom mount right below the Start/Stop button on the dash. I'll try and get some pics later on of both of those. Having the display right above the rearview mirror is great since it's easy to glance at as you are driving. The controller location is pretty convenient as well.

From everything that I had read, it was advised against putting the radar receiver behind a mesh screen, anything metal, or made of carbon fiber. I ended up installing mine in one of the openings on the lower bumper where you installed the Mansory LED lights at. Still get false K though but I think that's mainly due to Escort's filtering abilities. I would think if the LKA radars on the G were causing the falses, the escort would be alerting constantly since the LKA radars are always active.

Solid build. Looks Clean.

Couple thoughts and questions:

Are those the euro side-strips and where did you source, if you don't mind the ask? Looks good w/o reflectors.

One aesthetic note, did you think about doing side steps wrapped or painted to match the bull bar, trim, etc. Just a thought and maybe you chose not to for a reason, just might look cool considering. I am going to powder coat or wrap mine in black.

And question, with all that HP, how is taking off with those mud tires? Love how they look, but are they loud and do they grip?

Great job!

My bad, I see the steps are Black now... the reflections on the first images threw me. Looks strong. Are they wrapped or powder coated?

I can't recall if we had the radar behind the bumper, or behind the mesh screen on our last couple of G's. It's possible that is causing some of the issues on this one. I thought the same thing with LKA radars (ie, would always be on causing a false), but I didn't have any other explanation, so that's what I theorized. I need to contact Escort to get their opinion. I've had this system in 2 other G's (pre-'19), and never had this many false K band alerts, so I'm not sure it's just Escort's filtering ability. Somewhat off-subject, but I got the Escort Redline 360 for one of my other trucks and it works better than any detector I have ever had. The range on it is incredible, and the filtering (and GPS tagging) work extermely well. Not to say it hasn't falsed, but it's pretty good at filtering things out. I would definitely recommend it for anyone that doesn't want a hard wired unit.

Thanks. Yes, the side markers are smoked with vinyl. I've done this on a few G's and it holds up pretty well. It's not terribly expensive to do, so if they look crummy in a couple of years it's not a big deal to get them done again.

Thanks. The side strips are factory, just had the orange and red markers smoked. We debated on doing the side steps in matching gold, but thought it might be a bit too much. It's already pretty polarizing, but the side steps in gold might have been a bridge too far!
They are wrapped black. Powdercoating is doable, but getting the rubber strips out, and then putting them back in is a total nightmare. Wrapping them wasn't terribly expensive, and easy to get done again in a year or two if they look worn. We did this on the '20 model, and they held up great for a year. Granted, the truck is a garage queen, and only got driven 5,000 miles in a year and a half, but for the most part they didn't have any noticeable wear.

The tires ride great, but they do get a little squirmy at full launch. These trucks have torque steer to begin with, and tall tread blocks don't do anything to improve that issue. However, it's usually only from a dead stop, or slow roll to full throttle that you notice it. And it's not like it isn't controllable. Just a little twitchy. Worth it for the looks in our opinion.

Looks fantastic. How tall is it now? Standard height is 77.4”.

Are you planning to put the roof rack on? If yes, which one would you consider ?

Nice job...I appreciate customizing like you have done, and it reminds me of what I did the G550 I sold not too long ago. But I do the same again when I get my EQG (deposit given & first in line at the dealer).

Thanks! I think it's about 81.5" tall. I want to say our garage is about 82"-82.5" clear height, and this just fits under it. No roof rack on this one. It wouldn't fit in the garage any longer.

Thank you! I think we ended up settling on 10.5" wide with +12 offset.

Thanks. Yeah, I saw all the custom bits you did on your 550. It turned out nice. Your side step wrap job helped convince me to do it on a couple of Gs. I had contemplated it, but wasn't sure how it would hold up. It's been decent, and much easier than powdercoating!
