Chip Tuning

We have the Racechip in our personal G63 (W463) and LOVE IT!
But we've installed a lot of the Renntech on the W463A G63 and customers LOVE it for the performance gain and overall drivability.
Overall, you can't go wrong either way.

Just installed the Renntech tune on my G63. Truck does feel more powerful but now seems to have torque steer at WOT. Anyone else with this tune noticing torque steer? Might be the stock 21" Michelin Latitude Cross tires and the cold outside temps ~30F in my area right now. Will have to try it during the summer with summer tires to see if it will still occur.

Post back your results once you get the other tires and it's a little warmer. I'm curious if there is any improvement. I can't give much input in that area as I always install suspension lifts and aggressive mud tires pretty quickly after acquiring them. I did run the G65 on the stock wheels/tires for a week or so when I got it, and it had a little torque steer. It was Renntech tuned as well though. The problem only becomes more pronounced when suspension lifts and aggressive tires are installed. Both the '20 and '21 I've done were lifted and fitted with mud tires pretty quick, but I noticed the torque steer in them even before the lift and tires (first few hundred miles).

Enjoy the power, all that torque has to go somewhere. Made me think of my dad, he used to build big block Corvettes when I was a kid...
As a five-year-old, in his 1963 split window, I would sit-in on my moms lap (without a seatbelt), hold onto the dash and yell, "Hit It!" He would stomp the pedal and the car would literally jump sideways as we took off...
I think I will chip mine too.

So yesterday was about 15F warmer here and I felt less torque steer. So I think having even grippier tires and warm weather should definitely help mitigate it for me

I have a Renntech on my 21’ G550.
First tune didn’t work and had to send it back. I received a second tune and noticed no difference from stock. I sent that back and they said because I was one of the first 21’ they had to redo the map.
I have noticed some increase in power with the Renntech, but I was not overly impressed.
I only have 91 octane so that could be part of it.
one of these weekends I will get out my timing equipment and post some numbers of stock vs Renntech…

That said, we've never had such a situation programming cars using RENNtech HHT tuners and we typically do many many cars every season.

This is a one in a hundred malady and quickly rectified with RENNtech since the tuners are programmed via internet so the downtime (IF there is such an issue) is maybe an hour or so while the unit is reprogrammed remotely.

I was told last week by John from Renntech that the HHT cannot be remotely reprogramed and needs to be sent back to Renntech each time you want to change up the tune.
My Renntech tune is definitely noticeable. The truck pulls so much more than stock.

If only dealers are allowed to program, it's basically the same thing for the end user if they don't live right by the dealer. I wish they would allow the end user to program like how Eurocharged does it.

I don't consider a trip to a dealer as "remote". I guess my G is being "remote serviced" when it's sitting on a lift at the dealership, since I didn't have to drive it back to Graz (lol).

one question, I currently own a 2018 ford f150 raptor, I got it tuned. when I tuned it they told me I have to change oil every 5k km's instead at every 10k kms. since your using more power on the g wagon and the boost is increased, does that affect servicing in any way, like would u have to service more than before?

The end user can program their own car and put it back to stock. The dealer can load the tune into the HHT Programmer for the end user.
#46
Right. But if the end user needs to change the tune or tweak it, they would still need to send it to a dealer or to Renntech. Too bad Renntech can't just send a new tune file to the enduser so that they can load it onto the HHT themselves just like some others allow (Eurocharged, COBB, and VF).

I have Race Chip. I run mode 6, even though most run 2-4. With 2 gallons of E85 blended with 91 octane I got my car to a 4.0 second flat 0-60 (C450 AMG). Can install and uninstall in 10 minutes
*I’m at 5200 feet elevation in CO.
without blending E85, I don’t feel much difference from stock. Just boosting the octane a little the car is a whole different animal for the $600 I paid for the race chip

Happy to report that my Renntech tune and exhaust valve controller showed up yesterday. I installed everything yesterday afternoon and it was exactly what I wanted for my 21 G550. Just a little more rumble and a significant increase in usable power band. Highly recommend.
