I know nothing about Mercedes and very little about vehicles. I'm looking at this vehicle and would like input on reliability. It's an 2003 vehicle and wondering what will go wrong and how is the value of this truck.
Mercedes-Benz Mercedes G 270 CDI
Description The camper has been built on the original long-wheelbase Mercedes G 270 CDI from 2003 (3400mm). The conversion was done in 2016. At that time car had 190tkm. During conversion to the expedition camper, car was completely overhauled, there is a new paint job inside and outside, new bushing, new suspension, every rubber component in suspension was changed, new turbocharger, new engine seals, etc. The car has 235.000 kilometers on the odometer. The drivetrain is original, with no engine swap or anything like that. Besides that car is equipped with additional components. Here is a short list:
Front cabin: 1. Webasto heating unit. 2. Alpine sound system with navigation unit equipped in apple car play. 3. Long-range halogens. 4. Military-grade electrical installation 12/24v 5. Alcantara headliner 6. Leather finished door panels 7. 2x Winch front and rear 10000lbs 8. Electriacal mirrors OEM Mercedes Benz 9. 3 USB ports 10. Built-in battery charger. 11. 4x led working lights 12. 24V to 220V converter. 13. 3 Batteries 14. Aluminum 5mm plate under the engine and gearbox. 15. Alcantara headliner
Rear camper unit: 1. 2x 45 l freshwater tank 2. Fridge 35 ltr 3. Audio Bluetooth with 4x built-in speakers 4. Solar panels on the roof (lightweight) (3 days without external power) 5. 2x additional batteries 180ah each 6. Fully functional bathroom with shower and WC (inside camper unit) 7. Sink with fresh water 8. Heater (Air, Water) unit Truma combi. 9. Full led lighting. 10. Control panel for all systems in the camper unit. 11. the Whole cabin was built using 50mm sandwich material (Perfect for winter conditions) by a professional company specializing in 4x4 off-road camper build. 12. Elevating roof. 13. 24V to 220V converter. 14. Aluminum 50mm cover fuel tank underneath 15. Alcantara headliner 16. Storage compartment with external access for ropes, tents, chairs, etc.
Additional info: 1. The whole car electrical installation is original (24V). Still, the camper unit has a separate installation of 12V with three high capacity batteries for powering: lighting, water pump, refrigerator, work lighting, external pump, 12V / 230V converter, media radio, bathroom compartment, etc. The installation is made in the latest technology using "DDC-8" energy distributors controlled by the main control panel "MODULO-8". The "MULTI-VL" (small screen on the mainboard) measuring device measures the starting battery, hotel battery voltage, and water level in the tank. Inside there are USB ports and a 230V socket and switches "PZG-1" (You can see those ports and switches in my photos from wetransfer). When the car is plugged into a 230v source, an "LD-1512" 230V/16A/50Hz charger with an IP67 port (water and dust resistant) is responsible for charging batteries. A solar panel is also mounted on the roof, equipped with special rails. You can regulate them to optimal positions related to the sun position. Thanks to applying the "ECM-500" charging distribution system, original car batteries under the hood and between the driver and passenger seats are prioritized for charging when the engine is running. After the original batteries are fully charged, "ECM-500" automatically switches to charge high-capacity batteries in the sleeping unit. 2. Dimension: Width: 201, Height: 280cm Length whole car: 562cm Length camper unit alone: 300cm. 3. Registration and weight: The car is registered as a passenger car, not a truck, so the maximal allowed weight is 3500kg; in registration papers, the official dry weight is 2800kg. 4. Layout and sanitary: There is sleeping for two at the back of the camper. After folding down the table, there is a bed for two people, dimension: width of 160cm and a length of 190cm. Inside is a closed bathroom compartment with a Thetford cassette toilet (the cassette is accessible from the outside). Besides that, there is a shower with cold and hot water heated by a trauma, two function unit (water heater, air heater). 5. Construction: Whole Camper unit is made using thick 50mm highly insulated sandwich material.
