What’s actually going on??
So im in top 5 for orders on the g63 at the dealership.
no mark up, MSRP only, they know this… they made it clear to me
broker is telling me that I’ll pay sticker but anything coming in now is going for over sticker
sales associate/manager tells me im in top 5 and then said #3 in orders pending to be given to mb to build.
will I get an actual order this year or what’s going on? Makes no sense
ordered over 12 months ago.
- are dealerships getting allocated actual cars or just spots to possibly get a car?
the WORST thing about this is, in 2020 I gave back my 2020 g550 bc it was a lemon. That same dealership said they can get me another car for sticker and then never did it. Came up w the supply excuse and said “best we can do is 50k over for a g63, 35k for a 550”… where do I stand with that? Probably have no leg to stand on right?

What does "top 5" mean? Why aren't you being told specifically your place in line? Are you #4 today after being #2 last week? Does your number change depending on others who are paying more than MSRP and cutting queue into the "top 5" ahead of you? It costs a dealer nothing to say you're in the top 5, promise you MSRP, and never order you a G. Find another MB dealer or buy something else. No vehicle is worth being jacked around for.

You are not the only one. Gave my deposit 16 months ago and now I am in number 1 spot for the next allocation. I was promised MSRP when placed order but now the dealer is telling me that I will be charged market rate based on the day it arrives. I have no idea what that could be. What a bunch of crooks!! Consumer have no rights apart from losing your deposit and moving on!!

That means you'd have to pay at least $100,000 over the MSRP which is what the going rate is

Then there is no reason to wait for it to arrive and buy now! Is see that 350 2021/22 G63 currently up for sell. Been that way since MB announced that production of 2022 started up again....

Cargurus.com and autotrader.com each list about 950 new/used 2021 G models. Prices haven't budged much in the past month and Gs aren't being snapped up at current ADMs. I wouldn't expect listed prices to drop, but selling prices are likely to. MSRP sales won't be happening, but ADMs will be less than $100K on G63s. See one you like - make an offer. You might eventually get a callback. Even Escalades are fetching $10K over MSRP in the current market.

Keep in mind "market rate" is what other trucks are actually sold for, and not what other dealers are asking. A dealer who wants you to pay MSRP + $150K because this is what other dealers are asking is a crook. There are lots of Gs available at +$150K, which says this is not the "market rate".

Interesting article in today's WSJ - dealers now charge buyers a premium for paying cash. A buyer of a Lexus RX was told the car's price would be $2K more unless he dealer financed it at 4%. This was on top of the MSRP + $6K sales price.
MB dealers don't have a monopoly on sleaze, and there are too many buyers who can't get it through their heads that this is the worst time EVER to be buying a car.
And Isringhausen still has the '19 G550 / 23K miles listed for $180K.

Interesting update ****
calles sales guy today and he told me he spoke to GM/ sales manager.
I can’t edit my options (seats) since it’s been submitted to Mercedes’ but doesn’t have a PO/vin yet. Seems strange but they said it’ll possibly move me in the queue. Does this sound right? Sounds like I’ll be getting a g63 this year as they claimed 20 allocations this year and I think I’m #3

VIN’s don’t come for a long time until build date. PO is what you want at this point. The dealer can say all they want but unless they eventually give you a PO it’s all lip service.
On the flip side don’t worry about options until you get a PO, then make sure you lock it in asap because the factory is notorious for not accepting changes at any time.

Makes zero sense. If you don’t have a PO then you only have a place order in their system which can be changed all you want. Maybe they are just being lazy and don’t want to change your ordered build since there’s so much time left to go.

so why wouldn’t they let me upgrade the seats? If no PO or seriousness you’d think they’d let me switch it? No?

I'll just speak to my anecdotal experience with G's (which I have come to hate in this current market) -
Our dealership received a single 2022 allocation when they were released. In the last 60 days we sold four late delivery G's, two 550s for $30k and $35k over MSRP and two 63s for $76k and $80k over their sticker.
If I were to guess, your dealership is bumping you down for customers coming in and offering over MSRP. They know that someone willing to pay the exorbitant mark-up isn't going to be around when this finally returns to normal.

My G63 is in production and when they told me that I needed to pay market value I sent a nasty complaint to the GM. Well they told me to stick it, its either take it like a good boy and pay up or do business elsewhere. If you are in Mid Ohio don't do business with these guys. Extortion!!
Mr. S@#ini –
I apologize for the delayed response - we investigated the circumstances surrounding the order for a 2021 Mercedes-Benz G 63W4- unless you have something else documented, it appears that all we have in writing is a copy of what we refer to as a ‘build sheet’ not an agreement, we actually are relying on the verbal agreements/communication made back in December 2020. As I’m sure you understand, we were not able to obtain or fufill the order on a 2021 G63W4 ( the vehicle Kenneth Stuart (Ken) has been telling you about is going to be a 2022 model)….MBUSA has not released the pricing on the 2022’s as of yet.
When we accepted your deposit, it was pre-pandemic- there was no reason to believe we could not fufill your order…our industry was turned upside down once Covid 19 hit – mostly due to severe supply shortages. As an industry, our total sales numbers dropped precipitously – ‘some’ of this was offset by holding more gross profit on a per vehicle basis although the G Wagon was already in short supply back in December 2020 when you first gave us a deposit.
Ken suggested that it may be better if we communicated via telephone although since you already wrote that you’ve been speaking to an attorney regarding the order, accusing us of both racketeering and / or extortion, I told him the more we have ‘in writing’ the better. So here we are, in writing, acknowledging that we could not deliver you the specific vehicle you ordered.
I certainly apologize that we are not able to provide you with the vehicle you ordered and for any subsequent miscommunication…we will return whatever monies you may have given us as a deposit / partial payment.
Thank you and have a nice weekend.

Basically trade mine in for the same exact vehicle but I choose a different color and got more warranty, but then when I went they added 50k and it turned out to be the same as I was paying for mine, so it was pointless to run my credit.
Told them no thanks, since I thought I'd be paying off another 50k or so on my loan, but in the end it ended up being the same since I paid off almost half of my original loan.
