Back in Black - 2022 G63
It’s been over 8 months since I last had a G in the garage, and I’ve been slowly moving my way up lists.
Got a call from the dealer last week that a buyer backed out before taking delivery, and oh by the way the car will be here next week. Price would be MSRP plus $1000 add ons. I was next in line after they received a 2023 allocation earlier this month.
Spec is flat black with upgraded classic red interior, piano black, and black 22” wheels. Only option I didn’t want was heated steering wheel but it’s only $250, so I’ll deal. My next spec was going to be olive on saddle but that will have to wait.
Was not expecting to buy a G until early next year but this will work in the meantime. I know the economic forecasts are doom and gloom, but I figure a black G63 with red interior at MSRP is about as safe a spec as one could have, and I’m fine keeping it as well if things go south.
I’ll have the spare tire cover vinyl wrapped black and leave the other chrome bits alone.
The drive home was so great—the smell of the cabin and the seating position made all the memories of G ownership come rushing back. However it’s amazing how much I’ve forgotten about the controls. Remembered to always turn LKAS off though. Sorry to be cheesy but of all people, you all should be able to relate.
