Heavier doors on G550 vs. G63?

Hey all,

Yesterday I looked at 2 g wagons.

2019 G550
2020 G63

The G550 had noticeably heavier doors.

Does anyone know if this is a difference in build between the 550 and 63, or perhaps between the 2019 and 2020 model years?

I'm not imagining this difference, it was very obvious.

Any insight appreciated!

I'm going to go with the 550 anyway, but I am curious to hear if this is something anyone else has noticed or knows anything about.

Probably the 2020 has much less use and much more grease in the door jambs. Also the the 2019’s had an issue with trapping positive air conditioning pressure and subsequent models have lower tension on the outflow air flap springs so the door does not have to pressurize the cabin as much while closing.
