Surge, quick question for you. The GM of my dealer wants to buy my new Range Rover back. Long list. I said maybe for a G 550. He has one and can sell for MSRP. Only issue is, it doesn't have the Adaptive Suspension option that in my mind might be important? Would that be a deal breaker for you? Also, it has the most expensive interior option which I don't need or want, but only 10k more, may just go with it. The adaptive suspension is the thing holding me up. He said I can order, but 6 months maybe and value of my RR may go down further by then.

I also assumed the button on the console to switch modes would be there, instead of a blank switch. Sadly, it’s not.
Since no G Wagon is a sports car, I have used the Sport dampers maybe 5 times in 3.5 years and 50,000 km.
Hope this helps!

That’s a bit of a tough one! Adaptive Suspension was a must have for me as well; but honestly I almost never use it. It does make a significant difference though: Sport really reduces body roll and makes the car handle better, at the expense of ride quality.

A must have is the 360 surround parking system. Make sure it has that as it was an option, at least when I ordered.

You can toggle the suspension independently, but only through the Comand system. I just meant that there’s no button for it on the center console. The blank switch is there…and on the G63 there’s a suspension button there.

Now, is the G manufaktur Interior Package Plus for 13k worth it haha.

I did also read that in emergency maneuvers the vehicle will switch to Sport suspension automatically. So it’s a bit of a safety feature if you ever need it.
Otherwise, the adaptive suspension will be a bit more expensive to replace when the shocks fail. Something to keep in mind if you plan to keep it a long time.

Widely available in the GTA now at list. I have some connections, but anyone with an hour to spend on the phone can find one. One dealer has 5 unsold.
One used dealer has 20. He didn't anticipate the market turning and is sitting on a $1mm write down on these.
I love these cars, I'm speccing a new one in the next little bit, but the market is not what it was.

You're not trying. I'm in this market everyday. Nothing with a markup is or will move. I could buy a bunch tomorrow at list.

I test drove a G550 with and without adaptive suspension back to back and couldn't really tell the difference.
To me the upgraded interior is worth it, but I realize for the G550 it's a pretty steep hill to climb.
But in general G550 is much easier to find at MSRP than G63--shouldn't be a reason to wait more than 1 year unless you are in a heavy metro area like Miami, SoCal, or NYC.

i just bought one at $15K over - sticker was $193K in UT - luckily the one i was able to lock down was not in inventory yet and buddy called me asking if i wanted it. On its way from Los Angeles now.
Looked at 2 other local dealers and were selling at $50K over - SLC had one on the floor for 1 day and sold and neither could keep them in stock. Only thing I didn't like about the spec is the 21 inch wheels vs the 22 inch cross spoke which i want - now hunting for a take off set - have a line on one set at 5K + shipping and another in LA for $4200 - so trying to get best deal.

Now that the brand is lowering their emissions averages, they can continue to produce more of what is one of their biggest cash cows.

You can ALWAYS order a new G63 at sticker if you put in the elbow grease and call every single Mercedes dealer in the country if you need to. I got my 2021 G63 at MSRP at the height of Covid. It was delivered to me in December of 2020 and I ordered it in July of 2020. 5 month wait at MSRP. Perhaps I got lucky but I called around to every single Mercedes dealer in FL and then went out of state from there. Was able to find a Southeast Mercedes dealer and got a fair deal on a 5 month wait and was able to custom order to my specifications. I'm sure I'll be able to do it again when I decide I want a new truck in a couple years. I haven't decided but I will either get a new G63 again once they do a prominent redesign like they did in 2013 and 2019 (I expect this to be in 2025) or I'll make a switch to a Rolls Royce Cullinan. I've had a G wagon every year since 2013 so I'm approaching a full decade of consecutive G ownership now.

The G63 def has more swag/style than the Cullinan. I like the look of it more for sure. The only thing the Cullinan has over the G63 is that it's considered more "baller" but other than that the G63 is the coolest truck available imo. I don't like the Bentley, Aston, Lambo, new Ferrari SUV, etc. None of them look that good to me. Cullinan black badge done right can look really nice but I still think the G63 looks better.

The DBX is ok but why pay more for 3 or 4 generations behind Mercedes infotainment and the AMG V8 when you can just get it from the source. The Bentayga is a glorified Touareg with a Bentley badge on it, over paying for a VW is not it chief. Same thing with the Urus lol, not to mention its pretty fugly. The Purosangue also looks odd, like a lifted SF90 and I wouldn't trust Ferrari with all of the tech and screens they've implemented in this model. The Cullinan just looks hideous. Sure its "baller" and Im sure the interior/materials used are exquisite but RR is all about being silent and comfortable. If I pay for a V8 or V12, I want to hear it.
Obviously very biased but the G has that special something that all of these soulless competitors lack. It has badass military origins and a very cool history with the Shah of Iran requesting Mercedes to make a road version. The engine sounds amazing, great power, accelerates as fast as my C43 coupe lol, timeless design and the luxuries of an S class with actual off roading capability.
