Traded my 19 ED1 for a Cullinan
Big difference!
Also got a great trade level for my car which I couldn’t really pass up considering it’s 4.5y with 70k miles, can’t be CPOed, etc.
Will miss it, but still have the Squared and 16 G63 to tide me over.
I hope the next owner loves it as much as I did!

The G63 giddy ups and is always ready to pounce. Cullinan is very chill about blowing you away with the V12, but it’s not as fast as the G or responsive, but when it’s get going ….. my ….. god.
The materials of the Cullinan are like nothing I’ve ever experienced in a car. There just isn’t a car that compares.
So the G63 was maybe more exciting to drive, but the Cullinan makes me much happier.

So I have a Urus too and that is what did the G63 in for me. The G63 is fun to drive, but the Urus is a wild time. There isn’t a single time I took the Urus and wish I had taken the G63. That used to be the place the G63 held in my stable ….. so if you’re thinking of switching and a Urus fits your situation, it’s what I would do.

Congrats! Let's see pics! Did you find the car online or at a local dealer?

I want to add a Rolls royce bad but I'm a ghost guy. I'm sure the presence on the cullinan is greater tho hence my dilemma.
Also G63 > Urus. Everyday. It's a good car, good noise but cayenne gts a better buy. If I wanted to take a supercar out, I would take any of the actual 2 door sport cars out over Urus all day. Didn't make sense for me.

I think G63 vs Urus is very subjective …. Certainly could never fault someone for loving the G63 as I did, but the Urus won out emotionally for me. I hear all the value arguments but honestly they seem like excuses to me. I don’t know anyone who would cross shop a Cayenne, RSQ8 and a Urus - simply because of the price differential. But they’re all great cars for sure.
I have a handful of sports cars as well, including a Huracan, but the problem is that I have a lot of kids so practically it’s not possible to drive it very often. That’s the dilemma the Urus solved - every day Lambo.

My buddy has an RSQ8. Very cool car, but it’s not comparable. People link the comparisons in the price differential vs performance differential …. That’s like comparing a corvette to a huracan. You can, but like …… come on.

RSQ8, Cayenne TGT, Bentayga V8 and Urus all share the same 4.0TT V8, ZF8HP and chassis/platform.
Besides cosmetics, the principle differences are tq/pwr and chassis tuning.
Fundamental vehicle architecture is the same.

I have the new RR as well (V8 7 seater). Hell of a truck, it’s my DD. Has a similar ride quality to the Cullinan but like I said earlier, the Cullinan is very very special.

It bugs me that the VW Touareg (specially the V8 version) shares the same engine/chassis/electronics and many other components to that of: Urus, Cayenne, Bentayga, RSQ8 and Q7. I get the concept of globalization and manufacturers trying to cut costs, but these are supposed to be bespoke vehicles. The same can be said of a Huracan. Why pay the extra amount when I can have a discount Huracan in the form of the R8? Unless its only to flex the badge.
This is where the G stands out. Its design is vastly cooler and more unique than the rest that tend to look the same. Not only that but the G gets its own dedicated factory, with a hand built chassis and other than electronics shares very few parts with other Mercedes let alone other cars. But this is just how I feel personally, Im sure the competitors are all great to drive and use fantastic finishes/materials.

I get what you are saying, and that’s exactly why I’ll never put an Escalade in the same tier as the G and Range Rover since it looks like a Suburban from the side. At least the VW cars make an effort to look different!

The difference is the Corvette and the Huracan dont share like 70%-80% of the same components. Others might not care and the extra performance alongside the flex of that respective badge is worth it for them. But for me its a deal breaker when it comes to the price point of these cars. Its what will always hold me back from buying something from the VW group.

Purosangue, DBX, Cullinan and G ride on either dedicated or no-lesser-brand platforms.
Bentayga and Urus as mentioned share a platform with Cayenne, Q7/Q8 and Touareg.
Even the Levante rides on a Maserati-only platform. Clearly not Cullinan level, just rounding out the higher level SUV group.

Geez the hate for the Urus from some parts is something I’ll never fully understand. I challenge anyone to drive a VW, RSQ8 and Cayenne whatever and then drive a Urus and tell me “it’s the same.” Guys, it’s not the same. It’s spectacular and a way more engaging drive than the G63. I had them side by side for two years. Urus > G63, and this is from someone who still owns two other G wagons!

Very different. The G is a special car, feels very special. The Cullinan is a very special car, feels very very special. Something about staring at the SOE while driving gives you an appreciation for whatever luck you’ve had in life to find yourself inside of one.

I agree. RSQ8 is really not in the same class.
