2022 G63 Oil Level
Hi Guys, I’m trying to find you my best choice.
vehicle is currently at 2,400 miles and oil level is getting down.
1- Should I take it to the stealer for an oil change ?
2- Should I top off with Mobil 1 ( not sure what type 0W-40 ? )
Any help will be appreciated!!!

I wouldn't worry about it IIWY. As long as the display is between MIN and MAX, you're OK, as the display states. Your dealer will likely tell you the same thing. If you add a pint, the next time you check, the indicator might tell you it's overfilled and to drain some out. Even worse, the OM says an oil change with filter requires 10 qts. which will produce an overfill warning. 9.5 qts. gives a MAX indication, and that's what I put in when I change the oil. I don't know how the service department techs determine how much to put in without a dipstick to measure. I've looked but can't find one. My BMW also has electronic oil measurement, but it also has a well concealed dipstick. Not an obvious yellow finger pull, but a black flat top knob that doesn't look like anything functional. I use it instead of the dashboard display.

And if you do overfill it, the easiest way to drain out up to a quart is to pull the oil filter drain plug (not the oil pan plug). The first half pint comes out fast, but thereafter it flows slow and you can drain the rest quite precisely with a calibrated measuring cup.

just pour a half quart in, you're fine. 0w40 is fine, 5w40 is fine

mobil1 cooks off like you wouldn't believe but thats still early for it to be happening unless you don't know when the last OCI was. It's probably just in the head, the oil retention in the heads for MB is legendary lol.
don't go to the dealer for oil changes they're like $300 with the coupon these days I live in an expensive area, just go to any european specialist and your car and you will get far better service. I don't mind the extra $100 really, and you do get a nice place to sit but it's the waiting and scheduling and appointments I find very inconvenient. I quit the dealer to do my own thing, the SA's and techs are great, the system is not. There isn't really anything particularly special about MB oil changes procedurally vs like a VW but still at least go to a european specialist so they can reset your OCI and scan for codes

Interesting -- I've been using Mobil1 in several vehicles and haven't noticed this. Is this specific to high performance engines such as the G63's?

as for the oil retention thing, yes you can fill a car to halfway up the dipstick on the older cars, and you'd wake up to it a half quart overfilled in some cases lol. I've just made a habit of filling them at the min line and topping off in the AM
