Doors Need To Be Slammed Closed

Hi all

The doors on my 2020 G350d really need to be slammed to close, not just a good shove/pull then the very recognisable sound when they engage, a real effort to close them, especially the rear door.

If another door is open or a window down its much better, so assume the vacuum is contributing, some of the doors sit slightly proud of the body lines which could be from when it was vinyl wrapped prior to my purchase and the seals dont quite fit OEM now but when I watch YouTube reviews the distinctive closing noise is the same but man do I need more effort.

My wife & 8 year old really struggle, so Im looking to get them adjusted/corrected. MB just said its the wrap, like they did when i said the left side front door wind noise was really loud, so its for me to sort out.

What do you guys have, the distinctive clunk with a bit more force or a full on shut it like you’re really p*ssed at the door LOL. In just concerned that over time this amount of slamming will have a negative effect on the vehicle, the rear door really shakes the spare wheel because of the amount of force needed.

Thanks
Carl

Can you post a video? One person's "slam" is another person's "push".

That's the G for you. Lots of force needed to close the door. If you watch videos on it on YouTube (100% chance the reviewer mentions the great sound when the door closes), that's how mine sound.

Yes the spare tire may shake a bit when you close the rear door.

I tell my friends "harder" when they close the door(s).

Where's that G-wagon commercial with multiple cuts of a girl slamming the doors on her G...then cut to the final scene where she slams the door on another vehicle only to have all the windows shatter?

I give a backwards slam with my elbow/arm which seems to be just the right amount of force.

Every time I get out of a G, I have to close it twice because I forget how much force is needed. It's easier when a window is open because the pressurization is reduced.

Yeah, always possible there is an actual malfunction. But the "slam" is one of those distinctive features (quirks?) that many of us love about our Gs. Mercedes even made this promo making fun of it.

Hi all, thanks for the replies, I love how it needs to be slammed, and the subsequent noise it makes, I just thought mine seem a bit more than usual, my post was prompted by this video where MercBenzKing doesn't need to slam the heck out of the doors, they close with that distinctive clunk, just no slamming to get them to actually close. The door closing around 2.30 is what made me think about this question.

Man I love that G63 too

Some of it is the air compression factor. Let your passengers close their doors first and close your own door last. I find that there's a big difference closing a door while another is yet open.
