Window’s wind noise/rattle - solution! G63 21’
Hey everyone, I recently discovered a quck easy solution for that annoying rattle door noise, that comes from the front lower area of the front windows, either on a drivers or passenger side! In my case was a passenger side window. It’s actually a mirror that makes that noise, and its a small rounded lid underneath that shakes and makes noise. Its loose! When I pick up some speed on a freeway (55-60mph), it start shaking and rattling my entire door! Its not a tint, its not the window, its not a rubber, its not the door… its just this stupid small rounded plastic under the mirror! I just put a clear tape on it to hold it in place, and that was it - Noise is gone!
Hopefully this works for others, let me know..

Thanks for this.
I have a lot of rattling wind noise coming from my passenger side front door area, Mercedes blamed the vinyl wrap, Im going to check that piece out to see if its loose?

Mine has the same loose circular insert on the left side door mirror housing, the right side is tight, no movement at all, but the left side can be rattled around inside the base, i wonder if thats causing all the noise that Mercedes said was the vinyl wrap.

This is that plug hole, I didn't see the plug separately so maybe its part of the assembly and can be tightened from inside?
These are examples not my actual G

Same thing with my car. One side tight, and one loose (where the noise was coming from). What I’ve learned is that mercedes service people actually don’t know what exactly makes the noise. So they will tell you all kinds of different possibilities, I heard they will blame tinted windows, wrap, ppf or even suggest the entire door to be replaced. And in reality it could be something very minor like this loose plastic piece..

Now to figure out the fix, don’t want to tape it up, and if its a defect buying a new housing wont guarantee its not loose on the new one.
All main dealers are pretty rubbish so Im not going to ask, Id rather sort it properly myself. Will do some checks to establish mine is actually that item causing the noise.

Im not sure if gluing that cover in place will prevent any sort of removal of the housing, i think not as that will probably be from inside the door panel, but not 100% until i look this weekend, with some glue at the ready LOL

@D1103 youre a total saviour, I taped my left side one last night and no noise on my commute to work this morning. I was pricing up wrap removal, new door and window seals and so on, but its this tiny cover that is loose in the mirror base.
Now to the solution
