New order. Is this deal legit?
Hello, initially I got the following offer:
2024 model
November 6th build
$20,000 over msrp
Next day when I wanted to have the production in writing on deposit form, I got the following written from the salesman:
"Nov/Dec Allocation. If production won't be completed by March 30 2024 customer has a right to receive a full refund" $5k down
Is this legit or they don't have a November 6 allocation?
I asked if I will have online access that will update me on November 6th building status, I was told Mercedes just sends out an email when the building starts. Is it how it works or customers actually do get online access right away that clearly shows the build date and build progress?

The last time I ordered a G63 (a few years back) the entire process was lacking. I was totally in the dark for months. I wrote a letter to MBUSA about it and the secretary of then President actually called me to let me know it would be better. About a week after that I got a call from my salesman to tell me I had a chassis number. From start to delivery it was around 6.5 months.
I am about to order another one next month... will let y’all know if things are different 😬

Ask your dealer to provide you with the build sheet showing the PO number, current status code, and decade scheduled. If they can’t provide that then your build isn’t confirmed yet…
For example, I have a PO for a MY24 G63 October allocation and the build decade shows as 23/10-2 with the status LF03 - Factory Order Confirmed.
Also, there isn’t an online tracker for your order so you have to ask your dealer for updates which they can lookup in NetStar.

Yeah if you have a PO you are fine. If you don’t then dealer is playing games.
I’ve bought three G’s from three different dealers and the experience is very salesperson dependent. Some update every step of the way, some just text when car comes off carrier.

If your dealer can provide you a PO then your good and they have an allocation for you if they are saying they hope to get you an allocation sometime in Nov / Dec then they are simply hoping to get you one at that time. A $5K deposit is heavier than most ive seen but regardless all deposits are refundable if you dont end up taking delivery.

I have had a $5k deposit (charged) for over a year, at MSRP (in writing). But as stated, you need to get a PO if you are expecting it sooner than later (like me).
