Winter wheels & tires
For Canadien winter.
i’m thinking of putting on my old 20” 2018 wheels on the new 2024 for winter
to have 1 specific set for winter. i think i need 15mm spacers + bolts to fit the offset difference…
will it be a weird look?
i would think 22” for winter is too big no?
what do you guys do for winter wheels and tires on your G?

I drive my G year round but clock only about 5K miles annually. Two sets of tires are inconvenient, so I run Yokohama Geolander A/Ts (3MPSF rated) year round, and they handle Colorado winters fine. I'm not cutting trails through deep snow though -- just driving on snow pack and cleared highways. But I grew up in the great lakes region, and know how snow accumulates there quickly. Best reasons to go with 20" winter tires is brand selection, price and availability. But whether you go with 20" or 22", a second set of wheels that avoids tire swapping 2x each year is best.

I used to live in Salt Lake City and love my Geolander A/Ts (on my 2nd set ATM). If I was in winter climates again I’d look into the Yokahama IceGuard or the Bridgestone Blizztracks. Seems I also read they make winter tires w embedded studs for real icy conditions somewhere.
Don’t forget its more than the tread pattern/sipes design to expel debris, the rubber compound has to be able to perform under colder conditions.

Perelli scorpion winter tires size 285 40/22”
They’re being stored at the dealership right now, but I see Michelin has an all season tire that wasn’t available when I ordered the scorpions. It’s a Michelin pilot sport all season four. 295/40/22”.
I have a 2024 on order that should arrive around the end of the year. Hopefully, it will come with the Michelin all season tires. I already have the Perelli scorpion winter tires in storage at the dealership.

My winter setups will be my AMG 20" wheels and either Nokian hakkapeliitta 10 or R5 or Blizzak DMV2s.
I have had good experience with Nokians as well as Blizzaks.
I'll probably go 275/55R20 for some additional sidewall.

My experience with Blizzaks is that they were great when brand new but lost traction on snow and ice very quickly after a few thousand miles much much faster than with the Vredestein and Nokian tires.
