If they make a 2 door convertible version like they did a couple decades ago that would be pretty cool. But I have a feeling this will be more along the lines of the GLB. They should name it something like GLG so it doesn’t take too much away from the G class name.
I guess MB doesn't want too many models compete with each other? GLB GLC segment is already crowded
So I think there is a good chance we get a 2 door convertible.
I think if its a 2-door it will be a hardtop. I have a feeling chances of a convertible, especially being that its an EV, are low. But I would love to be proven wrong!
Maybe a convertible, so it doesn't have to directly compete with the GLB
Interesting thought I think they used to have a convertible G before but it never came to North America and was pretty rare, pretty might be an understatement.

Way too many models Mercedes is coming out with but if this actually comes all great, I am all for it.

"What Källenius did say is that the compact G-Class would ride on the company’s Mercedes Modular Architecture, or MMA. The new platform will spawn four new entry-level EV models — a coupe, a wagon and two sport utility vehicles, one of which is the compact G-Wagen."

So EQA seems to be on its way out.
Only EQB and mini-g left
A next generation MMA small SUV was spied. Likely a GLA. Articles seem to be conflicting, some say MMA, others don’t. The Baby G isn’t expected until 2026 though, so the teaser photo of the four MMA products is likely the CLA Sedan and Shooting Brake, as well as the GLA and GLB.

good catch, so EQA is there.
then it's possible that MB makes the EQB square shaped and call it the g-wagon... or the news release is nothing but a conflicting lie.
Hello, everybody. Found an interesting site called brabus-badge.com. Have you heard anything about it? Who has already ordered, please share your feedback.
I tried GLB star emblem and it shows me a G-wagon star, and I don't they are not the same.
Kids call our GLB 35 a baby G wagen. It's made in Mexico and does not have a hand assembled engine, but our family loves it and is a frequent daily driver.

Journalist called it a mini G-wagen even when it first came out, actually many people as well called it a G-wagen. To me, it looks more like a GLK successor than anything.

I feel the same way, I like the GLB35.
Get the GLB35 the Brabus light then it really looks like a baby-G
This week, Mercedes held a Capital Market Day for investors and the media where they shared a roadmap of new vehicle launches for the next couple of years. Teasers of several new and facelifted models were featured, including the upcoming g-Class.
CarScoops had good article, in my view, with some of the key announcements and nearly two dozen images and slides from the presentation.
according to the article, looks like EQE is dead and EQS lives on?
Good question @ILoveNY -- yeah, looks like the EQE sedan is going away once the electric E-Class sedan debuts. Reading between the lines, it does not seem like the EQS sedan will be axed until the next generation S-Class is introduced closer to or at the end of the decade.
What happens to the EQE SUV and EQS SUV is unclear to me as the GLE and GLS are receiving a second facelift in calendar year 2026 and will not be offered as fully electric models just yet.
