2024 G63AMG Markup
Question: I received an allocation for 2024 G63amg to arrive in march 2024. The dealership added a 30K markup. Is this the going markup or is this too much given the changes in demand/economy

$30k is in line with prices on both coasts. People like to talk about the economy but it hasn't affected the ultra wealthy that typically buy G wagens. Demand remains very high. Every week we get people calling or coming in looking for new.

Not to stray too far off topic, but how are the EVs moving?

Don't give in to these Greedy Dealers, if enough of us don't agree to pay their ridiculous ADM they will have to sell them at FULL MSRP or even lower, just walk away they are not doing you a favor, he who has the gold makes the rules, a regular G63 its just a regular G63.

If you have to have your own spec and allocation likely ADM, but I would negotiate a lot for a prebuilt or incoming car

The high-dollar buyers do not seem to be affected by the market changes. We're $25k over and have sold every allocation without an issue. Heck, we dealer traded for a GLS 450 last week that came in from a fly-over state with a $10k market adjustment still in the window.

Too many G Wagons are still be snapped up by the rich and sometimes famous who don't know or care about the amount their accountants write on the check. G63s were selling 2 years ago at MSRP + $150K. There will always be people with more money than sensibility, and luxe markets will always accommodate them.

50 Unsold 2023 G Wagons on Autotrader
Since the 2024 models are arriving at dealerships it seems that there will be a rude awakening at dealerships in the not too distant future.
Bought a vacation home from a distressed owner in a Arizona town much wealthier than Scottsdale during the last recession so many of the ultra rich do get hurt during the downturns.
Maybe I'll be coming in during the upcoming recession to order a G Wagon for the garage of that home.

In my search any NYC / LI/ NJ dealer close to the city seems to still be on that 30K+ like a previous poster stated if you go further out you will find some in the 15/20K range nothing in the tristate seems to be at sticker at least not for a new customer. I can only imagine the '25 Gs will spike the market ADM in our area even higher once again.

Personally I was happy to take advantage of that to get my own spec wanting one when the ADMs were 100-150k a couple years ago

'25 with the EQG and facelift will command a LOT higher ADM... part of the reason the ADM is "low" now IMO is for this reason: final model year of the "current" gen before W465 arrives

I stepped away from the new car market for a while because of the craziness but just checked Autotrader and there appears to be 50 new unsold 2023 G Wagons available on dealer lots.

Lot's of new unsold 2023 G Wagons available
I'm in the market for a new 2023 G63 -- can you let me know what area of the country you saw these in? I only find 4x4 Squared that are brand new on dealer lots -- any used G63's from 2023 are still in the $225-$240k range unfortunately. Would like to pick one up before the end of the year.
If you go to Autotrader.com and input the following parameters you will see all new 2023 G Wagons for sale, at least on Autotrader.
There are probably more on dealer lots that aren't paying to advertise on Autotrader.
1. Make = Mercedes
2. Model = G Class
3. Radius = Nationwide
4. Model Year = 2023 to 2023
5. Condition = New

Nationwide - Two of them have since sold so it's down to 48 G Wagons.

Even more 2024s
These are only the ones that are advertised on Autotrader.
It's only a matter of time.
The economic cycle still exists.

Sold/pre-ordered cars that show up at dealers will show up on autotrader inventory. Unless you see actual pictures of the vehicle it's not likely for sale (I doubt dealer will waste time taking and uploading photos for sold cars).
If you want a real litmus test for the market, go to a Mercedes dealer and ask what their list is for a G63. Almost certain to be over 1-2 years' wait.

MBUSA controls the dealer websites. Sold cars show there all the time. Best bet is to call and see if the car is available.

I've noticed some dealers list a dealers price (obviously MSRP + ADM), while others list MSRP (to which some ADM will be added). Does the dealer decide which way the price gets listed?
