I dunno, the more I listen to this guy's "vision" for the G the more I'm convinced it's not for me. Not once does he mention how simulating three locking diffs works going up the mountain or how torque vectoring works doing donuts on ice. I mean, if they were alone and got a flat in the middle of the ice lake they'd freeze to death since there's no spare tire. It's like he's not only ignoring customers but his own engineers too. Just make "something desirable" that people with more money than brains will pay too much for so he can give himself a million dollar bonus!

A few more tidbits on it, such as the "G-Roar": https://www.motortrend.com/vehicle-g...st-snow-drive/

Tank turns and a G roar, yeah buddy! I'm sure it'll be great for off-roading... here's Bjorn on-roading with an EQE SUV like mine, barely:

Was 1st in line but just took my name off that list and back on the G63 ICE list now that the carnage in high end electric cars depreciation is apparent. A $229K 2024 Taycan Turbo S with 1500 miles is having trouble clearing $100K in auction!! Never seen anything like this in the history of cars, not to mention the almost monthly non stop recalls on almost all the electric cars.

Final electric G preview
Today Mercedes posted a short preview of the new G580. The clip shows the electric G’s illuminated grill, along with the wheels, taillights, and what appears to be the charging cable box.
Really looking forward to seeing full details on this one, including the range, battery specs, etc.

Electric G Reveal
Was not expecting to see information until tomorrow U.S. time, but apparently the embargo was lifted as Mercedes has posted information on the G580, officially called the G580 with EQ Technology.
Here is information from Mercedes, along with a couple of preview videos of vehicles with production bodywork and no camouflage.

They put a box back there for crunching the tailgate when backing up but no actual spare. *sigh* But hey, at least it comes with EQ technology because that's just good marketing.
Hard pass! I'm looking forward to the Range Rover EV.

A $200K+ vehicle manufactured in limited quantity (maybe a thousand a year?) is unlikely to win any "saving the planet" awards. At best, it won't prove a tech calamity, and profit margins on ICE Gs will keep it afloat. Aside from catering to the vanity of the few determined to dazzle their neighbors by performing pirouettes in the cul de sac, I find its appeal baffling. Is everyone on the wait list leasing?

they did put out a compelling product; whether people will buy that time will tell. interesting that top speed is less than a 63.
I guess all we need is those strips on the A pillar and the one on the roof to make ours more aerodynamic or perhaps the hood

Also if the box is your sole reasoning, that is a lame excuse given you can get it anyway you like: charger box or normal spare cover like the ICE G or nothing apparently.

I am on the waiting list at a couple of dealers, with a deposit to be the first to get an allocation at one of them - I will buy and not lease. However, I like my new vehicles to be exactly what I prefer to I will have to wait until they can be ordered to my specs!

I enjoyed the videos above and I think MB did a good job on the new tech. The battery sucks however and I read somewhere it won’t support towing? Not sure if that’s true… the G-turn is a gimmick. How often would you use that in real life? The G-roar, are they just pumping that inside the cabin so you can pretend you have a V8 or are they also projecting that outside the vehicle as well? Part of the appeal of a G is getting those smiles and 👍 from onlookers when they hear that rumble as you drive-by.
