The configurator is live on the German site:
https://www.mercedes-benz.de/passeng.../GELAENDEWAGEN
In addition to the usual spare tire w/ cover and the Design Box option, you can choose a factory spare tire delete for the first time and a fabric cover (which I believe you could previously option in Germany, but I may be wrong):

How long until these aftermarket components come to fruition?

I saw this mod on a car in SF and not sure if it is the same one but I laughed at loud. I'd love to know where to get one.
Also, the delete option on the g is just a cover. I have the spare delete panel from topcar and love it personally. My dream would be to get the door off the 4x4 where the delete is just a clean panel with a true delete.

Embargo lifted on electric G driving impressions
Journalists and reviewers who recently drove the new G580 with EQ Technology have now published their driving impressions, as the embargo was lifted a few hours ago.
Here are four videos I enjoyed watching, especially the first three:
Based on these initial reviews, the G Roar feature sounds much better than I had expected. It is nice that it may be toggled on/off via MBUX. The G Turn is cool to watch, though it probably will not be used very often by most G580 drivers. 🙂
Looking forward to seeing all of the various packages and options for the U.S. beyond the Edition One models for 2025. Hopefully the degree of configurability will be close to what the German Mercedes configurator currently shows.

The Brush Guard is a real question in my mind. I really do not like the current G550 brush guard and much prefer the G63 look where it does not cover the full front. What will the G580 come with...hopefully we will see soon.

I named her Helga. She's built like Arnold Schwarzenegger and pushes me out of ditches when I get stuck. A little expensive to feed but anywho...
The new electric G just doesn't seem like a serious off-roader to me. I guess the G roar might come in handy for scaring away bears though. If not then you can do tank turns until the bear gets dizzy and falls off.

Nope. It has what is called a "G-Roar", which MB stated was not made to sound like a V8, and it varies depending on what mode the vehicle is in, and it can be turned off.
No reason to knock it since a G is a G, and if the naysayers would watch some of the driving reviews and then find something negative to say go for it, but those that know nothing about it should at least know what they are talking about first.

The WSJ's Dan Neil delivers an uninspiring review of the G580 in this weekend's Rumble Seat column. With its 294 mile range, I'd be challenged to make the trip to the nearest MB dealership for its first recall (my G550 has had 5 in 3 years, but perhaps I'm being a pessimist).

I still have 19 G550 and enjoy off roading with my G, but I hate the 13 mpgs. I was hoping the 25 G550 would be a plug-in hybrid, but the I6 and mild hybrid may not do much to help the fuel consumption. So the G580 is now my leading candidate for my next G. I’m liking what I’m reading about the off-roading capabilities, but I wouldn’t mind seeing a bit more range. There’s an improved battery coming, but I’m not sure if I want to wait much longer.

Was 1st in line but just took my name off that list and back on the G63 ICE list now that the carnage in high end electric cars depreciation is apparent. A $229K 2024 Taycan Turbo S with 1500 miles is having trouble clearing $100K in auction!! Never seen anything like this in the history of cars, not to mention the almost monthly non stop recalls on almost all the electric cars.
While true the EV space with high-end EV's getting hit hardest, even 2021 models are averaging over $100K at auction.
The data does not support your comment.
As for recalls, I know of one that requires going to dealer in the past year.
For 2024 Taycans there are no transactions available.
2023:
Has only 1 transaction from 6 months ago:
$171K so I would not put much emphasis on this since its so old,
As for 2022 Taycan Turbo S:
The Base (average) MMR is $138K and the auction range over past six transactions is $122.5K to $160K

The range is the killer for me. I need my SUV to have more than that to be considered. I love the concept and 1 EV car works great for my purposes. The SUV EV though, for me, needs way more than 240 miles.

And this is the car I was talking about. It did not bring more than $100,000 in a 2 week online auction so they pulled it out of the auction and listed it with a “buy now” price.

Of course no buyers!!
