2024 Mango Black Paint Issue
I contacted the dealer who looked at it and has no clue. They tested the paint thickness of both areas that have the "spots" and where the paint is normal and its the same thickness.
I am wondering if anyone here has experienced anything like this. The dealer says it could take a couple weeks to get an official response from MB, and even longer to repaint the whole vehicle.
Thank you for any insight anyone can offer on this. Photos below of the areas
If it truly is a defect with the paint job then unfortunately you’ll have to repaint the entire panel(s) or worst case the entire vehicle. Magno paint is notoriously difficult to color match. Also there are only a few certified shops that even do magno paint for MB so expect a fairly long turn around to have this corrected.

Maddening. You should not have to deal with this. Mercedes should have noticed the problem at some point before they delivered the truck to you. This is disappointing, but I'm sure they will correct the problem.
A large truck scraped the driver door on my 2020 Magno Black G 63. I found a local collision repair shop with a good reputation. We discussed the difficulties with matte paint, and they assured me they could repair the door. They only painted the door panel, and the results were flawless. Perfect. BTW, I spoke to several other "high end" collision shops, and they all wanted to repaint the entire driver side of the truck.

For what it's worth, I don't think you should worry about MB having to paint the entire vehicle. At most, a repaint of the affected panels should do the trick. A good MB authorized bodyshop will be provided with the exact paint code from MB. It's my understanding that MB keeps the composition of its paint codes a closely guarded trade secret and will only release them to its authorized bodyshop on a "need-to-know" or "need-to-have" basis. Perhaps that's why MB paint looks better and lasts longer than other carmakers.
It's best left to your dealer to handle it. I'm very interested in what MB says. Please keep us posted on this thread.
Congrats on the new ride!

Even if it doesn’t hit carfax I’d ask Mercedes for some compensation because somebody with a paint meter I’d imagine would be able to tell something happened. Plus the whole being without your vehicle and dealing with this headache deal.

I feel like most dealers would tell you to eat rocks, unless the compensation is coming from MB directly?
It does depend on how long the car is in the shop and what the nature of the issue is. 6 days total isn’t that bad and since this is cosmetic I’m not surprised they said no.
I’m not meaning thousands of dollars more just goodwill.
When my ix stranded me for 30 minutes in rush hour traffic and spent three days in the shop, BMW gave me $500 credit to use at the dealer. None of us are hurting for $500 it’s more the principle.
Doesn’t hurt to ask, if you don’t the answer is automatically no.

I think what #JamesH12 is asking is whether the fix your dealer provided was a repaint of the entire vehicle, or just the affected panels/areas? I'm interested as well in the event I need to repaint a panel (or the entirety) of my car at some point in the future.
Thanks in advance.

In the meantime, don't let it take away from the enjoyment process of your new G63.
update is they are initiating the buy back process after several unsuccessful fixes including flying out one of their engineers to work on it for two days.
so we will see what that all shakes out to mean in coming weeks.
I took delivery of my 2026 G63 yesterday and have the exact same issue on my Dakota Brown Magno. I noticed a few small blemishes on the hood at the time that I picked it up from the showroom but I thought maybe it was hard water spots or something. I mentioned it to my sales rep… documented it and reported it. The sun was shining this morning and of the blemishes are very obvious. I will be calling the sales manager tomorrow…unacceptable for $250k vehicle.

picked up our 2026 G63 last week. Detailer that is doing full PPf called us today to let us know there is a blemish on the drivers side hood. Thought I did a good walk through at pick up but I guess I didn’t catch it. Not sure what to do? The detailer already has all the trim pulled off.
