2023 G63 Brake Price Dealership Ripoff?
Just got quoted $8500 for brake pads and rotors. Just had my car serviced 5 months ago and the pads had 9mm remaining now they are saying 3mm remaining less than 5000 miles later and rotors are required. Has anyone else experienced the same?

How many miles? Dealers of expensive cars like Benz and Land Rover always say rotors need to be replaced with pads every time, but I’ve found rotors usually are good for at least two pad cycles.
I would get a second opinion from an Indy shop or a brake/tire place you trust.
In fact if the rotors are good. I would consider buying some disc Italia ceramic pads from brakeworld for the G63 and have the non dealer change them out. Will be much cheaper and no brake dust.

Yes, the G eats brake pads like no other car I’ve had before. Basic guidance is that the rotors are good for 2 sets of brake pads but it also depends on how aggressive you are with driving and if you have a G550 vs a G63. Brakes and rotors typically wear much quicker on the G63 and are significantly more expensive to replace than the ones on the G550.

Yea it’s a G63 from 0 to 10k miles down to 9mm now from 10k to 15k down to 3mm and needs rotors doesn’t make sense ….. took it to another dealer already and they’re saying not worn down to 3mm and dash indicator for brake pad wear never displayed

How's the sound with the pads? My OEM squeal a lot.
Also, I don't see them listed - do I need to contact them for the right parts?

Squealing isn't always pad to rotor noise as many think. One G63 dealer bulletin reported the problem as pads oscillating in the calipers, with the fix being adhesive and lubricant.

I haven’t gotten them for the G63 yet, but they were amazing on my 2016 RR Sport. Little to no squeal and like 90-95 percent reduction in brake dust. Similar if not equal brake performance.

I purchased the brake pads for brakeworld. But struggling to find anyone in Atlanta to install them. Keep getting that they have to buy parts, wont use customer supplied parts.
anyone know of anyone in Atlanta area that could instal or the types of car shops I should be enquiring to?

If you're in Socal go see Pro tire and auto service in Westminster Ca. They did my brakes at a VERY reasonable price.

recently got Zac Motorsport 2pc rotors front/rear. Cost was $2200 shipped or so.
Paired them with the Brakeworld pads front/rear $500 or so.
installed locally $350
total $3k or so with lower dust and no more squeaky stops.

Thanks for info, just signed papers on a 2023 g63 with 10k miles. Brakes were squealing during test drive. Had no clue of the performance squealing issue and that dealer price for rotors/brakes was this expensive, will definitely go this route when time comes.

Search this forum for squealing brakes -- there are several threads as I recall.
