I'd imagine EQE's will have a harder time then Taycan's as many were sold way below MSRP (and Taycan's were selling above MSRP for some time). On the flipside, Taycan's have a refreshed 2025 MY now with much better HP, range, etc.. I think a huge chance the G580 shares a similar fate as I'm pretty sure they'll wind up updating the battery technology significantly in a year or two. 240mi range is very poor these days.

Doesn't this more or less make leasing a no brainer?

Yes, except lease prices are crazy right now, especially for Porsche. I still came out slightly on top vs if I leased the Taycan.

I saw the G 580 was getting a round wheel in the back for next year VS the square wheel this year.

I heard it will be an option, to get the wheel vs square cable holder. More importantly, they plan to introduce new battery tech in the next 12mo. I'm still most likely getting a 2025 but just FYI for anyone on the fence lol

Good luck, let us know what you decide to do.

A few of the videos and articles I've seen suggest that MB "didn't deny" the G65 moniker would return as the top end electric G.

I have waited this long so I may as well wait a little longer - mine will have the Sila battery tech. The electric Escalade will be getting a 425 range so MB needs to step up, soon.

More range is failry useless to me without a NACS port, like the 2025 Ioniq 5 XRT has:

Ehh, can easily get stuck waiting forever that way. I'm considering taking delivery of a G580 in a few weeks - and get one with the better range down the road (in 2-3 years once they are out).

Yeah, electronics and compute advance so fast, you’ll just keep waiting for the next thing. Just leases for 2-3 years and move on that way.

My G580 is built and awaiting the ship. My dealer said clearance from the US port is the variable on when I'll actually get the car in hand. The current offer for the trade on my 2021 G550 with 43k miles is 100k (worth 106k when factoring the tax savings). Just starting to see if I can do any better on my own. I've got wheels and tires on my current I want to keep and use on the G580 when it comes in. However not sure if they will fit. Also not sure if there are any other considerations changing wheels and tires with the electric. The tire rating load I have can handle the weight of the new one on paper.

Here's where I'm at in a similar scenario with my '21 Taycan Turbo: Various car market places and local dealers are giving me $80-$85k. I listed it on The Lasso, going live tomorrow. I've never used the platform but supposedly it lets various dealers to give me offers (it doesn't sell unless I accept). I put in a $91k reserve I believe. The offers are supposedly live until Wednesday (from Monday morning). Assuming I don't get to my 91k there, I'm going to list on CarsandBids. They first evaluate your car and determine what reserve they want to list it at; keeping in mind that you list for free and the buyer pays a commission if/when it sells. They also spend money promoting the listing - so obviously they want to list it with as low of a reserve as possible. Still, they seemed somewhat fair offering me a $85k reserve (which is a bit low to me, so I'm still debating it). If you want to PM me, I can connect you with someone at CarsandBids to see what reserve they'd recommend. Typically, cars like yours almost-always sell above the reserve they set, so that would be a good no-risk marker for you.
