G580 US Arrivals
I'm hearing that dealerships are expected to start receiving their G580s in the next few weeks in the US. Hopefully that means we'll know MSRP pricing soon

I couldn't find anything official about the MSRP. I also spoke to a few dealerships I work with and they didn't have any official info yet either. $180k for the G580 seems high when the AMG will be 190-210?

👍 I have an order placed for a G580, but doubt I'll get an allocation for a First Edition but regardless if MB thinks they can sell a G580 close to 200 grand, I think the market thinks otherwise. Just in the last 2 weeks I had several dealerships who were asking for ADMs agree to MSRP and a few contact me about orders people canceled (I'm pretty set on a non white or black color though). I guess we'll see soon but the EV market for expensive cars is very weak now (I work in the auto space for what it's worth).

Speaking of cancelations, I have an opportunity to take a canceled G580 arriving in a few weeks in white now (at MSRP). I really wanted the blue, but if I take it now, I'd save so much on taxes (NJ has 0% tax on EV's until Oct1).

if white works for you and you like the specs, go for it. Good luck, I saw on Instagram that the tax goes up from zero to 3% in NJ for EV’s.

I really wanted the blue, but yeah - goes up to 3.3% Oct1, and to 6.6% 9mo later. So realistically, waiting for a blue one would cost me 6.6% * car-price ($180k+) = $12k+.

My build date is Sept 10, so I'm pretty sure I'll be one of the first. Options were limited, they basically went over them on the phone with me and I said option everything. From what I remember the edition one was 20k and not really optional but was listed that way. I went with obsidian black. Pricing is still unknown ? Not even sure if will have that electric grill or standard. The european configurator only shows standard. I love my current G550, hoping the same for this one.

Interesting that it does not have the brush guard in the pic like the 550 does. It would be pretty great if it didn't have one instead of having the 550 one.

There are now a handful or two of these available for sale in the US.
I suppose this leaves a neat timeline with each model launching the month after the previous, since the G 500/500 launched in the US at the beginning of August, and the 580 with EQ technology has launched around the middle of September (assuming the G 63 will launch next month which seems likely).

So I guess there wont be an AMG EQG? Or maybe the G63 will be ICE and a G65 electric? or the 53 electric and the 63 ICE? That's even more confusing than before. They made it worse. :slapself:
I still might get one but I'll have to test drive it first (just to check for creaks and rattles) and quite frankly I'm inclined to buy used next time around instead of taking the new EV depreciation hit, again. There's always someone who regrets buying an electric vehicle and immediately goes back to ICE so I probably won't have to wait long for a low miles example to pop up.

The cheapest Taycans in the whole country (according to cars dot com) still fetch $50K+ so there seems to be a bottom for a Porsche EV anyways. I'm hoping the value of my 2023 EQE 500 SUV eventually bottoms out like that too. All the barely used EQBs selling for $30K isn't helping though.
