G580 shipping status

Does anyone have a G580 on a boat yet? It seems like they are all sitting at port in Germany (despite MB wanting to do a grand reveal event for the G580 in late October).

Ships are scared of carrying them. They require special insurance and upgraded ships at much higher cost. The G63's made a few months later are already en route.

I wonder who ultimately ended up liable - the car manufacturer, shipper or insurance company?

All of the above.
The batteries seem to ignite when in contact with salt water or salty humidity.
It is actually 2 ships in 2 years that have burned now. Hence all the extra measures and precautions by the shippers and insurers.
Multiple homes just burned to the ground during the water surge of hurricanes Helene and Milton.

That's scary. I didn't know there is a reaction between lithium-ion batteries and salt. This happened in Los Angeles late September:

Don't believe the fake news on American TV. Data shows Teslas are 11X LESS LIKELY to catch fire than a gas car:

“All the data shows that EVs are just much, much less likely to set on fire than their petrol equivalent,” said Colin Walker, the head of transport at the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit thinktank. “The many, many fires that you have for petrol or diesel cars just aren’t reported.”

IC engines catch fires 10 times more frequently but usually in older cars while driving on the road and the engine is hot. Never heard of an IC engine fire in a parked car overnight. EV fires are in new cars that ignite at home overnight while the owners are sleeping and the cars are charging quietly hence lies the danger.
The shipping industry and the fire marshals and the insurance industry and the burned ships must be all lying too.
