2026 G Allocations
Congrats! Looks great. I'm different. Mine is in obsidian black, but wanted the badges in chrome because its so hard to see black on black. I definitely wanted the MB star on the hood to stand out as well
Super helpful thread. I've experienced many cars and finally ready to go for a G. I'm in the NYC area (would happily buy anywhere in the country though) and curious if folks have an info on G550 allocations/pricing. My local (MB Huntington) easily agreed to MSRP but had 3 ahead on the list and gets very few allocations. Plenty of big volume dealers around here and likely will inquire with Manhattan. I know the thread is very G63 heavy, but curious if anyone has heard of discounts on G550 orders?
Other questions I'd really appreciate help with:
1) Is there such thing as a minimums spec? I come from Ferrari/Lambo/Porsche world where there is a lot of pressure to hit a minimum price on a factory order. (I think the best value is a G500, base wheels, free color, etc with just the Seat Comfort package).
2) The configurator seems buggy and I cannot tell if its possible to have the "plain" Macchiato/black interior and just get the Seat comfort package (which it sometimes lets you do) or if that package requires one of the exclusive interior upgrades (which the configurator will alternatively decide is mandatory depending on its mood.)
3) Has anyone seen, or does anyone have any photos, of a "base" interior G wagon (no upgrade packages)? I cannot reliably tell exactly how strongly you notice what you're missing (of course other than the possibility for certain colors, headliner, etc)?
In either event, this is a going to be my NYC daily/road trip car that I will take to Utah/CO once a year and lightly off road on some easier trails as I have with my defender etc. As silly as it is, the better milage and smaller wheels are major benefits to me. When I ordered my Huracan EVO, I largely followed the same ethos, choosing a free color and eschewing the AP options and saving myself $50K+ while still getting CCBs, Mag ride, lift etc. When it came time to trade, it was priced identically to the mega option cars and I did phenomenally well, so I am looking to emulate that methodology. Really appreciate the help!

Hello from snowy Massachusetts. I took delivery of my 2025 G550 in May 2025, but had ordered it in the Fall of 2024. I am not sure about now, but you should be able to find a G550 at MSRP - may just need to shop around. I am not sure how the market and demand is now, but I know it depends on the area and dealership. I got mine at MSRP, which took a bit of shopping around last year. I have not heard of a discount on a new G550 order. The only time I have heard about a discount for a G wagon has been for the G580 EV version - some dealerships were offering discounts on models in stock. It has been a year since I ordered my 2025 G550, so I am not sure how the demand is now.
I was recently helping a friend of mine decide on a build and was doing some configurations and talked to a sales person, so I can help answer your questions below - not sure I have all the right answers, but this is just what I have found or asked about - you will need to confirm upon ordering.
1) No, I don't think there is a minimum spec. When I ordered mine, and hearing from a friend of mine, you just tell the sales representative what you want in your build and you have a little time to change until MB accepts the order and assigns a potential build date.
2) As far as I could tell, and when I asked sales, you could not select the Seat Comfort Package ($2,420) without also adding in the Exclusive Interior Package ($5,300). If you want completely stock with no options, there really is nothing interior you can select without adding additional features like you described. I am not sure if the sales person can help with this.... For example, my friend wanted the AMG Line ($3,500), which also automatically adds the Exclusive Interior Package and updates the wheels to the 20" AMG style. Based on what you are describing, you may just need to keep it completely base and not add some of the exterior or interior features.
3) I do not have a photo, but I saw one at the dealership - the seat leather was a bit different, but there are a couple trim options that are free (Natural Grain Walnut and Light Brown Zen). I could not tell a huge difference except for the seating material, and the steering wheel is different if it does not have the AMG Line... I also believe (don't quote me) that heated/cooled cup holder, heated seats, heated steering wheel, and maybe heated arm rests are standard now for 2026 even with the base interior trim.... Not the ventilated seats or massage though, those come with the interior upgrades.
I hope that is a little helpful, as I was just talking about this with someone and talked to my sales person as well for my friend, but definitely the sales representative can help you once you find a dealership willing to do MSRP. Best of luck!

1. There is no minimum spec, you can get it a G as basic as you want. I've seen G550s and G63s with literally zero options before at my local dealer. Unlike Porsche, there's no benefit with earlier production if you load up on options.
2. The configurator is buggy for sure. Your best bet is to talk to your dealer, but you can also refer to any posted order guide, although they can have typos as well. I am uncertain currently but it used to be you could order the seat comfort package separately. Now if you select it and the upgraded interior package on the configurator, it leaves both prices included so it makes the car look more expensive than it will be.
3. Base interior should look relatively the same as others except the seat pattern and seat leather is different, the center console side trim (where your leg is) is plastic instead of leather, and the dash and doors are plastic/vinyl instead of leather? I think the headliner is still alcantara.
4. Best ROI options for G's are night package, upgraded interior, larger wheels, and probably carbon fiber.
I understand where you're coming from with your Lambo experience, but only taking depreciation into account, your cost of ownership will be much lower buying a G63 at MSRP with $25k of options than a base G550 at MSRP. I've only ever done one oil change in a G, so I cannot speak to maintenance costs but I imagine the AMG is more expensive if you are keeping a vehicle for say 5 years.

Incredibly helpful replies, very much appreciated.
I’m mired in conflict at the moment. Heres where I’m leaning: there are some reasonable 2021 CPOs around $110K. Seems like to dip my feet into a G550, it’s a nice way to sample the car minimizing risk and depreciation and I still get the V8. If I can get one with two years of warranty, I’ll drive it for a year while looking around for MSRP allocations on a G63. I think reselling on Bat etc with a yr of CPO at the bottom of the 2019+ pricing is probably a good place to be. Unless I’m off my rocker, maintenance aside I think I could be under $1,000 a month in depreciation buying at this level with low/avg additional milage.
Food for thought as I endlessly go back and forth. Thanks again

If someone is looking for a 2026 White G63 at MSRP I can give you my point of contact at the dealer here in Florida - message me:

I think I hadn’t put enough stock in this. Spoke to a friend who’s had both and they said the 2025+ upgrades were significant.
One major dealer here on Long Island had allocation and wanted $10K over and car had to have AMG pack and the make expensive interior. On a 550 mind you. With little effort, I have already identified a fed and late March build from two different NYC area dealers with no min spec at MSRP. My build seems to be $164K which would be a brilliant blue with a saddle tan inside, requiring the 9K or so interior pack that includes the massage seats etc. Based on current auction data with avg miles I’d expect to loose somewhere between $15-20K /yr avg over the first three. Fairly decent for a car like this.

Yup, I sold the 22 and bought a 25 G63 in the fall and the improvement is significant. The touchscreen and wireless CarPlay make all the difference.
only thing I’ll miss is the sound (allegedly) and the scroll wheel/sensor buttons on old steering wheel, the new Haptic Touch is just bad bad bad (have it on my GLS63)
