What year is your G? Not sure if that matters though.
So the 20" tires with a partial load is 32 PSI on all four tires. Thats a long ways from the 38 front 46 rear that my door jamb sticker dictates....WOW!!!

This was really helpful. I plan to do some calculations on the current Falken tires once I get the vehicle, but I am likely to try 35-38 all around at first given my load is always very light - mostly just me and maybe one other person. Once I get the new all-terrain tires, I will update it to those being E rated. As you experiment a little, let me know what you come up with... We won't want to sway too far from the recommended PSI so it triggers the TPMS. Maybe the rear will with my proposal? Not sure... If so I will go 35-36 front and 42-44 rear. We will figure it out I am sure!

My G is a 2019. Door frame sticker correlates with gas flap sticker max load pressure. My take on all this is anywhere between normal load and max load is OK, as long as pressure side to side is the same. But max pressure at normal load might cause excessive center treadwear. I'm mostly at normal loading, but I run at 34 psi all the way around because it's easy to remember.

Isn't the difference on PSI front to rear based on weight distribution of the vehicle? I believe it is. If so, wouldn't the G be considerably more heavy in the front?

Adding 3 passengers in the back seat plus cargo in the boot (or a trailer's tongue weight) distributes the weight disproportionately to the rear axle and tires, hence the higher pressure (a trailer can sometimes lessen the front axle loading). If you regularly haul passenger and cargo that justifies max pressure in the rear, when you balance and rotate your tires, you should adjust the tire pressures accordingly. It's not a limitation of the tire (obviously) but as you say the weight distribution.

Thanks. Yeah, 95% of the time it's just me in the G, no cargo no passengers no towing.

Load is a good point and it also depends on driving style and temperature fluctuations. Need to find a good balance in handling and ride quality. For temperatures, usually drive in the morning? It will be colder so the tire pressure will drop a little. Usually only drive in the afternoon? Temperatures are higher so pressures are also higher. Obviously driving as well brings up the tire pressure by 3 to 4 psi temporary so always check tire pressures when cold/not driven.

HAHA! They probably won't be surprised actually. They are really nice and always get a kick out of me. When I went in to order the G wagon and do a test drive, I think they were already a little bit like - huh? I had just come from deer hunting and was wearing camo. The whole don't judge a book by its cover thing really played out. I guess I must not look like the typical G wagon customer, especially in the fall and winter when I have a huge beard and wearing camo.

Thanks a bunch, pretty much confirmed these values are also the same for 2025 (in absence of a sticker that is)? Is the doorjamb sticker the same as well as 2025?

Too funny. I paid cash for my G but when I flew to Boston and met with them, I said "will my 310 credit score be an issue?" LLOL!! The initial look on their face was shock followed by hell yes thats an issue.
Side note: My score is a wee bit better than 310 😂

Haha - I love that! I always try to make them laugh and feel comfortable - even though I probably scared them when I first walked in. I am sure they appreciate the humor, as I have observed some customers there that may not necessarily have a fun sense of humor. I witnessed one lady looking at Maybach who was so incredibly rude to the sales person. No judgement, but laughter and kindness are pretty much the best way to navigate the world right now.

Your sticker varies considerably from the sticker my dealer ordered for my 2025 G550. Now I'm wondering if MB changed the PSI recommendations from your 2019 to the 2025's or if my dealer maybe got the wrong sticker.

Here is my sticker, not yet applied to my gas door.

There is some difference in the psi specs between the 2 stickers, but note that for normal load conditions, front and rear tire pressures are the same. As I noted above, I run all 4 tires on my G at 34 psi. Recently I have read a couple of articles on the importance of equal tire diameter (front vs. rear) on transfer case and transmission wear and tear (https://www.aaa.com/autorepair/artic...-tire-concerns). Running a high tire pressure on the rear set when not max loaded makes the rolling diameter of the tires front-to-rear unequal (for all 4 tires being identical). I don't know if MBs are affected this way, but why risk it over a couple psi?

Your input is appreciated, thx! I'm at 35psi on all four right now, was at 38/46. What I notice now and understandably so, is a softer ride on crappy roads and heavier steering.
