Smile 2025 G63 order review, first post!

Dear MBWorld community, this is my first post, hope to join as a proud G63 owner in a few months. Would love some feedback on my current build sheet for an upcoming order, I still have a few weeks before the build is locked. Would love to get some feedback regarding some questions I have as well as welcome any feedback from members about anything that I might be overlooking in the build. Thanks in advance for your help, it is much appreciated!

1) Wheels - I’ve gone back and forth between RG4 (22” Cross-Spoke Black) and the new R20 (22” Multi-Spoke Black). I really like both but am leaning towards the more classic RG4 just because most of the elements of the underside of the car are blacked out by DE9 (Night Package Plus) and the silver elements of the R20 wheels seem to pop out a bit too much in the backdrop of DE9 but wanted to hear some feedback regarding this.

2) D57 (Animated LED logo projectors) - I’ve seen pictures on the forums of this option on the underside of the doors illuminating the ground, which seems pretty cool but also read here that since this is a VPC installed option, the quality might be suspect and to try to minimize VPC installed options in general. Are there any members with this D57 option installed on their cars that can comment on this?

3) DE9 (Night Package Plus) vs. DC4 (Carbon Fiber Package) - As others have pointed out on the forums, unfortunately for a US build, we don’t get the option of night package + black running boards separately + DC4 for a “blacked out” look with Carbon Fiber. I am really drawn towards the DC4 in terms of the Carbon Fiber elements, esp. the rear wheel cover, but can’t seem to overcome the fact that the running boards/exhausts/etc. will be in silver chrome and am leaning towards DE9 as is on the spec sheet. Some forum members have commented on getting the running boards/exhausts tips/lettering/etc. separately wrapped in black to match the DE9 spec to have both DE9 and DC4 but I worry about the longevity of that. If someone with experience could comment on that, would be much appreciated.

4) Resale value #1 - I know that cars are a depreciating asset and definitely not an investment vehicle but it would be nice to know that i won’t be taking a beating on it. My impression is that G63s do relatively better compared other luxury SUVs at this price point. The specific questions I have regarding this are how does the VLI (Full Leather Package) affect this? My dealer seems to indirectly suggest that it would be hard for them to sell it in case I backed out and specifically asked for an additional deposit upfront covering the VLI.

5) Resale value #2 - Also, given that the build date is in mid-June nearing the end of the 2025 model year, I inquired about waiting for the 2026 model at this point and the sales associated recommended against that, saying that it would push back the delivery to late this year/early next year. Just because I am impatient, I prefer to just get it mid-late this year even if it’s at the end of the model year cycle but would love some feedback about this, esp. in terms of the resale value down the road.

Thanks so much in advance for forum members providing their feedback regarding the build and/or answering my specific questions!

Welcome and congrats on the upcoming vehicle!

1) Both wheel choices have some silver to them, although you are right the new ones have more. Between the two I'd prefer the newer ones since it's a 2025+ option and would further differentiate your vehicle as a new 2025. If you are really adverse to silver then consider even getting the 21" 5 spoke which are all black and come with all-seasons instead of summer tires.

2) Can't help with this.

3) I wouldn't wrap the exhaust tips due to the heat, but plenty have wrapped the running boards without issue and without much cost. The lettering can be swapped for OEM emblems without much fuss. The exhaust tips are the issue for sure here.

4) The dealer knows best--if they ask for an additional deposit or dissuade you from an option, it'll have a low return of investment and be harder to sale. An option that costs that much is polarizing and you're likely to take a hit on it on trade. If you're going to keep this awhile go for it and enjoy it, but since I try to change often I wouldn't spec it.

5) I am hoping for a refresh bump in holding value, but in general as a very rough rule of thumb, there's about a $10,000 difference model year to model year in value. With your order now you probably aren't looking until delivery until July, so I imagine 2026 allocations will come out before you take delivery. If your dealer is willing to push you back it's something to consider. Some dealers say take it or go to the back of the line.

Since you already have the MANUFAKTUR Logo Package in Black, you already have the mirrors projecting the G logo onto the ground, which is much better and from the factory, so D57 would absolutely be redundant.

I recently got my 6th G63, I chose the new R20, it is the only wheel ( as well as gold) which tells that it is a 25 model.
I initially chose the extended night package then canceled and got the regular one to show features of the new front bumper in a better way, which is the second new feature in 25.
I think that options usually don't keep value but the diamond seat pattern may add some, I heard that it is desired.
I had the old crazy yellow, brilliant blue, China blue, white, and 2 new yellows. My dealer thinks that he can resell any color. The car is new and I wouldn't worry about value in the first 2 years of ownership.
Congratulations and good luck.

There was a special edition in 2024 that used the gold wheels and only came in black I believe, so the R20 is the only all new wheel for 2025.

In my opinion the three most important options for resale:
-Diamond stitching
-Night package (or I guess carbon fiber and dark chrome also work here)
-Carbon fiber trim

I always get the first two but the carbon fiber is just okay to me for the price.

not really a fan of the R20 wheel, it looks too bougie and I feel that the design works better on the S class and much less so on the G…
