W463A G63 Tire Pressure

Hi G folks. So now that I've had my '24 G63 for nearly 10 months, I think I'm finally done tinkering with the tire pressure. I couldn't seem to find any information on the weight distribution of the vehicle, so I've been having to do multiple trial-and-error tests with various PSIs. I run year round Pirelli Scorpion Zero on 22". Since I live in SoCal and drive mostly on paved roads, I have no practical needs for seasonal tires. I also drive mostly alone or occasionally with a friend, so the vehicle is pretty light with regards to driver/passenger weight. As such, I started with the 38(F) and 35(R) PSI as recommended by the chart inside the fuel cap flap. That setting produced an awful ride as the vehicle was subject to the full weight of gravity and I felt that I was not maximizing performance of the vehicle.

So after 10 months and multiple adjustments, I concluded (perhaps erroneously) that the G63 is heavier in the rear. I'm finally settled now at 41(F) and 43(R) PSI. This setting seems to provide me with the best throttle response and most control and comfortable ride, yet allowing me to feel the road when I'm in Sport+ manual mode. It definitely gives me the shortest stopping distance. Also, when I fully accelerate from a stop, it no longer veers to the right or left during the first 1.5 seconds, which is SCARY as heck the first few times I felt that pull. Lastly, this setting seems to give me the best gas mileage - not by much, and you guys know what I mean ...

I would be interested in this community's thoughts/experiences. What PSI settings do you folks have your tires set at?

Interesting! I’ll admit I always just follow the manufacturer recommendations. I usually run 1-2 over in all my cars, so in this case 39-40 front and 36-37 rear.

Hi @Hodog16 . Hope you're doing well. It's weird because I was under the initial impression that the weight distribution for the G63 would be heavier in the front. My dad, who is an avid car aficionado/collector, took my truck out for only a 15 minute drive and told me immediately afterwards that the vehicle is actually a bit heavier in the rear than the front, and that I should adjust my tire pressures accordingly. I've gone through 10 months of multiple adjustments by a couple of pounds of PSI on the front and rear tires, then driving them for a few weeks so I can make the assessment myself. For me, the 41(F) and 43(R) setting seems to be perfect - maximizing both performance and safety. I was wondering if this is a personal preference issue based on the driver's driving style or whether there's a general consensus I wasn't aware of, so I posted my experience to see what others' experiences/thoughts have been.

This is a timely thread as I was messing around with various pressures and wondering what everyone else runs their psi at for the factory 22" Pirelli Scorpions. I like the fronts at 39-40 and have been mainly experimenting with the rears. I tried the recommended 35 in the rear (I never carry passengers in the back or heavy cargo loads - usually just golf clubs, guns and ammo lol) but the tires look under inflated and about to go flat. Running now at 40-41 so will see how that pans out.

Yes, I know. That's what I started off with during my first month of ownership. It just appeared under-inflated and somehow didn't even look right. More importantly, it didn't drive as crisp as I had wanted. With my current settings for the tires, however, it's much more nimble and operates much tighter. I feel like I'm now extracting the maximum performance and most responsive braking out of the truck. Also, I don't have that crazy veering (right or. left, depending on its mood) when I floor the accelerator from a standstill - although the nose still lifts upward.

I too went through a period of adjusting my tire pressures. I recall you and I got our respective '24 G63 last year around the same time? I felt that the factory recommended numbers identified in the fuel flap were way off, especially for the 35 PSI for the rear. That somehow made the car feel like the back was dragging when I drove and didn't corner well. I didn't keep track of the various PSI's I tried, but I've been running 40 PSI on all four tires. I'm lazy and a constant number for all 4 tires helps me memorize it. I agree that the weight distribution for the G63 is heavier toward the back.

I've also been searching for the weight distribution and can't seem to find it anywhere in the owner's manual or on the Internet, which is odd.

I'm going to try your 41(F) and 43(R) setting this weekend. Appreciate your post very much.

Update. So I tried 41(F) and 43(R) setting this past weekend. My wife and I took it for a long freeway run, as well as a run through winding roads up in the hills. I'm happy to report back that I agree with @AmyC in that this may be the best PSI setting, at least for the '24 G63. The car performed flawlessly with those tire pressures and seemed to have woken up. More response acceleration, faster braking, and tighter handling. I'm also convinced that the G63's weight distribution is a bit heavier in the rear, which was a surprise to me.
