New Tires on my 2025 G550

Hello Everyone,
I picked up my 2025 G550 on May 9th and just hit 500 miles yesterday. I had new tires installed last Friday and I wanted to provide some photos. I ended up going with the BFG A/T KO3s in 275/55R20. I have driven about 20 miles with them, including some dirt roads, and absolutely love them. They fit perfect with no modifications needed. I have had the KO2s on my other vehicle (Toyota Land Cruiser) for a while, so I knew what I was expecting. The KO3s are definitely an improvement and I am very happy with the result. I do not have Facebook or any social media, so I had my mom post my old tires (Falken Azenis FK520 in 275/50R20) on the Facebook Marketplace for $600.00 for all 4 tires (less than 500 miles on them). If anyone here is in MA or New England and interested in the tires, let me know and I will sell them for $500.00 for all 4 tires.
Next up for modifications is likely a Gobi roof rack and ladder... still figuring out aside from that, as I want to be very strategic and clean with the modifications.

Thanks so much! The all-terrain tires do change the look of the G wagon and I am very happy with my choice. I am likely going to be taking it on some dirt forest roads next week. If I do, I will get some photos.

I have been so busy that I have not had a chance to explore a few of the forest roads (nothing too technical) around my property. I hope to do that soon and get some actual photos of this thing on dirt and not pavement. My next plans are to get a Gobi roof rack and ladder, as well as some lights for the rack.

I am terrible at photography, but I snapped a couple photos of my G wagon that actually came out OK and wanted to share. Next photos will be on dirt in the woods.

Thanks so much! I took delivery on May 9, but I have been so busy I only have less than 1,000 miles on it and been so excited to take it off pavement. I will be sure to take some photos.

Yes, we are twins! That is so cool - nice to see someone with the same spec. Your G wagon looks awesome, I love those tires. The Toyo Open Country AT3s were definitely on my list, as they are amazing tires. I went with the BFG A/T KO3s because I have been running the KO2s on another vehicle for years, and it came down to a few personal factors. The one thing in my build that I wish I did was the obsidian black roof. I was dumb and did not really think of it because I planned to do a Gobi roof rack at some point. Now that I have the vehicle, I really wish I did the black roof. I am actually planning to PPF the roof in black, as I think it will just complete the look. I am just working with a company to match the Night Package Plus trim, but I will post photos once it is done. Nice to meet you.

Nice meeting you as well. Yeah I picked this one up last month. It is a 2023 with only 3K miles on it so I did not have the roof option. I have been running BFG's on my truck and old Lexus GX470 but went with the Toyo's because of the triple peak snow rating. We do quite a bit of skiing but really it was more the looks of the squared off shoulders on those tires than anything else. Congrats on the purchase. I totally love mine so far.

Good choice on the KO3s, @Angus4x4... but you already knew that.
While the A/Ts are good in the winter, dedicated snow tires are even better.

Congratulations! Finding a 2023 with only 3,000 miles is amazing. You made an excellent choice, as the Toyos are definitely much better in the snow. Even though I live in New England, I do not plan to drive the G wagon in snow or much in winter at all, so that was also a factor. I will keep this thread posted once I do the black PPF on the roof, even going to tackle it myself since it is the roof and should not be as complicated as the rest of the vehicle. I am still getting used to mine, but I do love it. Best of luck!

Thanks so much! Oh yes, I agree about snow tires. Back when I lived in northern CA I did a lot of snow driving with my built-up Land Rover, so I actually had an extra set of wheels with dedicated snow tires for certain trips and snow conditions. We don't get much snow here, and I plan to use another vehicle in the snow, so that is why I went with the permanent KO3s on the G wagon.

Almost a year@Angus4x4 , how are you liking the BFGs? Zero rubbing?

Howdy! I love the BFG KO3s, they offer such a great blend of on and off-road performance. I have not noticed any road noise or issues, but I also am so used to driving on all-terrains that nothing really phases me with these tires. I put about 5,000 miles on them and absolutely no rubbing or issues. I definitely love them. I do rotate them every 5,000 miles, which I just did recently. I am trading my 2025 G550 in for a 2027 G63 AMG and have been exploring tires for the 22" wheels. I have a few options I am considering at 285/45R22, which I know do not rub and fit completely stock, but unfortunately they do not have the BFG KO3s in that size, only 275/50R22 and 305/45R22.. I need read on the forum that someone fit the 305/45R22 without rubbing, but it just seems tough given that there is barely any room with 285/45R22. I am actually considering trying out the 275/50R22 BFG KO3s to see if they fit, and if not, will go with a different all-terrain tire (I have a few ideas) in 285/45R22. Thanks for checking in and let me know if you have any questions.
