VPC & Delivery Questions?!

Hi all! My ‘26 G63 just arrived at Baltimore port and is now at the VPC center as of today, per my SA. I got to thinking- what all do they do to the G wagons at the center? I watched some videos and noticed that the factory in Austria does the wheels etc I believe, and likely most options. So I was curious if anyone knows what exactly they do at the VPC and the typical timeframe as well. I’ve heard anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks it can be there before it gets on a truck for the dealership.

lastly- once it arrives to the dealer (I know this may be a dealer specific question), do they have to do much to the car before your able to pickup? I assume most of that is taken care of at the VPC besides clean/detail. If you can’t already tell I’m itching at the core! Will also post my build sheet if anyone is interested in viewing. Pretty loaded although I chose against the night packages because I think the silver/chrome looks better on the china blue than the black.

if anyone else recently got their 26’ and has info about length of time it took at the VPC etc, would be happy to hear.

thank you!

Congratulations! This is so exciting! I was in this position this past April waiting for delivery. I am sure others on the forum will be able to help with your question about what they do at the VPC, but I think they check them and maybe install some options, but I think it's more processing and preparing it for a carrier and shipment. My experience was that my G Wagon arrived at the Baltimore VPC on Friday, April 25, 2025. It cleared VPC and was waiting for a carrier assignment on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. So, it took about 3 days before it was ready for a carrier to transport to the dealership. It did not get assigned to a carrier and leave until Monday, May 5, 2025 and arrived at the dealership on Thursday, May 8, 2025. I took delivery on Friday, May 9, 2025. My dealership is about 6.5-7 hours from Baltimore, just outside Boston, MA. But it did take 4 days to get to Boston, MA. When it got to the dealership, it had some protection on the doors and inside, the bull bar was wrapped, etc. They got it prepped and done for delivery the next day. It looks like you are in Ohio based on what you provided below, so that may take an extra week with delivery, but you never know. I hope this helps with an example of a timeframe from delivery to Baltimore to a dealership and then delivery. I am not sure, given the holiday season now, if this is helpful for the 2026 models arriving now. Hopefully others on the forum can share their more recent experiences. Please keep us posted and can't wait to see photos of your new G63!!! Your specs below will be absolutely stunning in person.

While at the VPC, your vehicle will clear customs. This can take a 2-5 days. It will also receive any vehicle updates for software or any recalls if needed. The VPC also has the capability to preform any minor repairs if anything occurred during shipping transit. After this, it may sit a few days to a week awaiting a carrier to your dealer. Depending on how far your dealer is away from the VPC, this can also take a few days. Once it arrives at the dealer, the dealer will take it into inventory, do a full inspection and remove all of the shipping materials and prep it for you to take delivery. This should take a day or two. If you want the pleasure of "unwrapping" your new vehicle, you should request that your dealer leave these items attached.

Congrats on the new ride! Hang in there....the wait is almost over!

Ship docked on 12/2 in Brunswick. Left 12/4 so sometime in that window vehicle went to VPC. Dealer shows vehicle ready for shipment today, so now just waiting on a transport truck.

wow! That went through VPC very quickly! I’ll be curious to hear once it’s loaded on transport to the dealer. If you wouldn’t mind keeping me posted? Mine got into VPC yesterday so I’m hoping it gets out and ready for transport by Monday or Tuesday. I’m curious to know which all options they actually do there since I went pretty strong with the options so maybe that may take a bit longer? Thanks for everyone’s help as well! Keep me posted if you don’t mind!

VPC does minimal prep: software checks, removing transport blocks from the suspension, installing any US-specific parts like front reflectors, and a basic wash. For a G, it's usually quick, often 3-5 business days. Your dealer does the full pre-delivery inspection, detail, and fuel. If there are no holds or part shortages, you're looking at a week or so to the dealer. The wait is the worst part.

wow! That’s pretty quick! My ship docked an my car officially went into VPC last Wednesday 12/3..as of today, 12/8, it’s still showing just VPC so it’s not complete yet. This is in Baltimore. So it’s been 5 days, but only 2-3 business days, but I assumed VPC works around the clock. I think my salesman said that once it clears VPC they have 3 days to have the car delivered to the dealership..would be great if it cleared tmr and I could get it by this weekend!!

Hopefully yours will show up soon! I guess Brunswick doesn't mess around. For my 2025 it took 2 days to get from VPC to dealer.

Most of the things have been answered above already. Generally, the VPC ensures that the car is in factory conditions. The VPC is actually an extension of the factory. Things that get installed at the VPC in addition to what was already stated is Homelink for example. They take off the non Homelink mirror and replace it with the Homelink version. I did European Delivery with my C63 back in 2019 and while driving around in Europe, it didn't have Homelink. I remember, because I was wondering when I went over the car to make sure it was built with all the correct options. Then when I took the second delivery, it had Homelink. In my case the VPC also fully restored the front bumper after they had to drill into it in Germany to install the mandatory front license plate. I had also curbed a wheel during the 2 months I was driving around in Europe and it was fully restored afterwards. With all of that it took almost two weeks to get through the VPC. Custom is cleared before it gets to the VPC. I know this, because with ED the car is imported under the customer's name, so I got the customs paperwork via email before it went to the VPC and MBUSA kept me informed, letting me know that it had cleared custom and that it proceeded to the VPC.

Basically, if there's nothing out of the ordinary, then it passes through the VPC very quickly. Could only be slowed down if they have a lot of vehicles to process and/or are short staffed. If it spends longer at the VPC, that's an indication that the vehicle may have suffered damage during shipment, or is waiting for a part/update. Sometimes if there's a shortage of non-critical parts, the vehicle gets shipped and the missing part will be installed at the VPC, instead of holding the vehicle at the factory.
