Noticed a few drops of oil on the garage floor a couple of days ago and took it to dealership. The rear main seal is leaking and needs to be replaced along with along with the oil separators. Is this a fairly common issue? The truck has 38,500 miles on it.

 

Yeah, it happens. The rear main seal can go, and the oil separators (cyclonic separators) are a known weak point on the M177 engine. Pretty common for that mileage. Good they caught it all under warranty hopefully.

 

Yup, a possibility for any M1177 vehicle, G, S and C we see less than E... sounds like a weird nursery rhyme.
