Bizarre Placement of Front and Rear Cameras on W465
I'm disappointed to see that the rear camera door has been lost on the 2025 vs the 2019-2024MY cars. Yes, there is a washer on the rear camera which is nice, but it will pickup a LOT of dirt being so low on the bumper.
And the front camera is very low, but bizarrely there is no washer on this one. I bet it will be essentially useless in winter, mounted so low. It's also basically on the bumper, so a parking lot tap or hit may take out the camera. The W463A has the camera much higher up on the front grill. MB should not have messed with this!
I do find myself wiping it a bit on my 2025 G550, as I don't know how the rear washer actually works. I should take a look. I believe on the 2025+ models with Professional / Offroad Package the little door and camera that retracts is still there? I am not completely sure, but I think I saw that.
One of my biggest gripes about the refresh is the rear camera. Hate the angle. Front camera doesn’t bother me as much but it looks goofy especially on silver bars.
