Most likely directly by AMG in Affalterbach as part of their Manufaktur program where you can custom order any AMG vehicle with all kinds of extras not available in the US. I believe the Manufaktur program is primarily for Europe and the Middle East. More details available in the following file:

how would one get some of the more bolt-on adds, such as exterior lighting?

@Lov2xlr8: They are Xenons from AMG, as are the low-beam lights. They only sell them as a set. Cost about 5,100 Euros + VAT =appx. 6,500 $ +VAT.
Very expensive, but worth it.

@david_101: It was all done directly at AMG in Affalterbach. They really do amazing stuff there. But be prepared to wait a long time and spend lots of money....

IMHO, the best thing I did to the car is the ceiling. It is a TOTALLY different interior feeling. The picture tells only half the story !

Sadly, AMG requires that all of these components (including the Xenon lighting kits) be installed by them at their factory in Affalterbach. Anyway, many of these are actually sourced from other suppliers who you could purchase from directly. AMG makes very few of them.

jimmyg...
i believe that factory lighting is a shortcoming of the current G, and is one thing that makes me less than fully enthusiastic about it.

do you think that MB would install the additional xenons up front?

also, brabus seems to have a rover-like bixenon retro-assembly. ahve you seen that?

LukasG55K...
$6,500 just for front-end lighting retro is QUITE expensive, indeed. and especially so just to bring the lighting up to that available on most every other MB. unfortunately, it is a necessity.

thank you for that post.

and yes, i paid particular attention to your G's new headliner, which is VERY handsome. i hope you enjoy it for a long time to come.

They have a wide selection of bi-xenon lighting options for the G-Class but some of the links of the page are not working right now.

I have ARTs price list and can email it to you if you like. But the prices are very similar to AMG.

jimmyg and LukasG55K...
i went to the ART URL and found that, as predicted, there was link-rot on the page.

thank you, but no reason to send the price list now. i don´t yet have the G (and may sadly opt for another brand) and may inquire at a couple of MB dealers about the lighting.

the 2005 G hard-brochure is in front of me now. i haven't yet found anything referring to additional lighting as a dealer accessory.

may i ask if you know what major differences there are between MY 2004 and MY2005 Gs?

Very nice. Is that granite trim? Charcoal alcantara headliner? And that last picture with the quilted leather and the AMG logo'd carpet -- is that the side of the cargo area?

Are you sure about the stone trim? I think stone is only available on the CL and SL. This looks more like Anthracite Poplar or Anthracite Curly Maple.

Harris...
Harris, can you get parts for the G-Class from the AMG Manufaktur Catalogue? They have LOTS of cool options, like xenons, mobile office, rear seat entertainment, rear air-cond., a four-place seating pkg. with individual rear power seats and center console, rear curtains, etc. I've been told these can only be bought from AMG in Germany, so US dealers know nothing about it.
