Pics of the Brabus Unimog U500 EB

This is the SWB version of the Mercedes Unimog Implement Carrier. Used as a municipal vehicle (mowing, plowing and sanding, utility work, etc.) and remote access vehicle (firefighting, search and rescue, offroad RV) worldwide. I like the LWB crewcab version better....

The CXT is nothing like a UNIMOG
In purpose or execution. Maybe marketed to the same crowd, like civilian H1 Hummers, that's it.
The CXT is pretty much a mainstream truck like something an electric utility would set up as a bucket truck, with a pickup bed and fancy chrome, etc. Its capable of high-speed highway travel. Mainly an on-road truck with limited off road capabilities.
The UNIMOG is pure workhorse. Low gearing and only like 60 MPH top speed. Original intent is implement carrier, for extreme off road. The UNIMOG can go places that a CXT would not even come close to. But its slow, a purist for extreme off-road work.
Does anyone know if Brabus has overcome the [lack of] speed situation?

Brabus claims 75mph. MKB ran rally trucks for awhile that would do just over 100mph. With the tires on it (which can be changed-out -- alot of options on tires), and the size of the thing, 75mph is hauling a$$.

Already available (seats three in back) they just did up this one for the show. Actually most of the "done-up" ones are the 2/3 passenger single cab.
Go here for 'basic' US versions:

Oh, and these things are 5 times the animal that they look.....

The LWB U400 or U500 is the way to go (pic #2 below is a LWB). The U4000 and U5000 are heavier duty...but are just too much heavier duty unless you're going to cross the Sahara or live off-road for 2 months or something like that. You don't necessarily need the crew cab if occupant capacity isn't an issue. The rally teams use the U400 or U500. I think that Carlsson, MKB - and I don't know who else - have done 'race' versions of them. There is a U400 now going to run the Lisbon to Dakar, and get this, it is carrrying all of the spares for all of the ML teams!
There is a thread going now in the ML forum on the rally with a pic of this year's mog (or one of them anyway).

Ummmmm....I guess best bet is to do a google on "unimog", or go to the rally site for the Dakar rally.... You could probably find it under mkb and brabus "unimog" too. and look up "funmog". I haven't bookmarked any sites for the rally ones, and I got rid of all of my rally mog pics years ago..... I switched over to building them about two years ago, so I mostly (or pretty much only) have the US and UK unimog factory/retail sites and the sites of implement suppliers.
There are several fan sites in the US. Here are the links that I still have which you may be interested in:

Believe me, these puppies are the baddest rigs I've ever seen other than ducks and 6- and 8-wheel personnel carriers. You wouldn't believe the crazy stuff that the historical military vehicle guys have. The crazies in Alaska was where I first got turned on to this stuff. The problem with all of the old military stuff is that it is really old, and not comfortable at all. They are still making Unimogs and they are new, with warranties, and have modern seats, sound systems, and climate control!

It's a blast for a few hours, couple days if one is mostly 'touring'. Sure as heck wouldn't run a full-blown rally stage at speed, though - that's more abuse than fun! LOL

Clay is getting the right idea here. A couple of hours in the Brabus Unimog (offroad of course) is one helluva way to clear the mind and relieve some stress. But, there is one thing slightly more extreme than the Brabus Unimog, and that is the Brabus G Class 6X6. Yes, you heard me, SIX BY SIX, as in 6-Wheel Drive. Check it out, its worth a look.

That's really cool, thanks HLG600 I didn't even know that those G36's existed! They look pretty old-tech though, probably from the '70's. Unimogs from that timeframe had 'em beat, no doubt -- and the new ones would wipe any mudhole with their a$$e$! But nice find...thanks.

Anytime. Don't underestimate the G Class though. For decades they have proven to be among the ultimates of off road vehicles. Only thing about the UNIMOG is that it wouldn't fare to well on the street. But offroad it's an animal.

...OK, parking is the same as for any other truck -- you just don't even try to pull into a space up by the front door.....
