They make a massive profit on the G, hell, even a base S-class costs $15k less than the G55.

Ok, 2007sclass.com I'm confused about this "new" G. In this article they show the pics of the new G it has the CLS/E steering wheels and the facelifted C-Class gauge cluster:

What gives? This article says they ship in April. So is there going to be another update to the U.S. G in a few months????? Doesn't make sense.

Probably a little build-year / model-year confusion.

The new dash and facelift would be in the 08 model (MOPF) year I guess.

I am picking up my MY2007 G55 AMG on the 27th of this month. Dealer confirmed to me that the 2 G500's he has delivered in the last 2 weks have had the round guages in the instrument cluster and are pre-wired for mobile phone as "standard" now. It would not make sense for MB to upgrade to COMAND system, upgrade engine, and bi-xenon lights and then do a second upgrade steering wheel and guages later within the same MY....

It doesn't make sense but thats what they are doing in the US. 07's are at the dealers and they are just like the pictures that started this thread. I have seen the pics of the new instrument cluster and tail lights that didn't make these first 07's in the US. If they change them mid model year or in the first few months MBUSA will have some pissed off owners. No its not a huge deal but when spending close to 100k that kind of stuff shouldn't happen.

look at the G-wag forum, not the G55 and you will see better info about the midyear confusion. These are the Gwags for 06 I think that were sitting in port because of the confusion due to the original plan to stop production then restart with the EPA and emissions. It is the most pollutant vehicle on the road so these were sitting there for a few months but dont have the updated navigation software, only the new consoles and xenons.

benz just totally does whatever they want because they know people will still buy it and pay for whatever, regardless of enthusiast's opinions. They are in the business of selling cars and making money, not pleasing every single customer, only the important ones.

With that said, I'd still take the 1st gen 2007 model because my 2005 Grand Edition is still the baddest mothaf***a on the road with the best sound. Ultimate vehicle IMO regardless of options and trim.

Funny you mentioned the word "port"; i have an email from the dealer d.d. 16th Feb saying that the car was in port (Germany) waiting for some type of DOT approval in the USA. Same email also stated the 2007 was "officially" released on 9th Feb. Who knows. I have emailed and explained to them that I would not be taking delivery of this vehicle if it is not the "fully updated" version.

In saying that he still insists the 2 G 500's he recently delievered DID in fact have the new-look guages, dash, etc..

nobody can be as disappointed as I am. Last week i was told by the dealer that the list of options on my car which was buoilt in early Feb had "changed" in the system. No more Tel-aid and showed pre-wired for tel. Well, the car arrived the dealer today.....has the "new" steering wheel however missing the buttons on the right for the telephone an does NOT have the "new" guages. There is NO cradle for phone in the armrest either. I am royally pissed-off especially as I have been waiting since December to figure out when i would be able to get this car.
When the dealer asked the regional rep if there is any news of further changes during 2007, the answer was "I don't know". What a screw up!!!!!

I dont think the rims are that bad lookin at all or anything about the truck for that matter, its eclectic!

But didnt the 55's have nicer lookin beefer brake caliper's?? what happened there huh?

I've got to go against the flow and say I love the gunmetal effect on the 07 rims. And black is THE color for a G-wagen.

The brakes look good to me though there is an 07 that parks at my work where all the brakes have been changed out for cross drilled versions. Odd, as I'd always read that the brakes were more than sufficient. Must be a style thing.

I thought they were changing the speedo though to a two piece? I like the old one though so it wouldn't bother me were I in the market for one.

Power got bumped from 469bhp to 493/514bhp I believe?
