I wonder what Benz is going to do to redesign it in 2010??? I think they should keep the body style but put bigger wheels on like 20-22 inchs and change the engine from the 5.4 liter AMG to the 6.2 liter. The biggest change they should do is the interior, like change it to the S-class style/ML style.

The shock absorbers are different, and can be swapped with those from a G500. They are firmer and offer better high-speed handling, though a slightly more uncomfortable ride.

2008 G55
It's an awesome vehicle. AMG changed over to this new version 2d half of 2007. The exterior is the same, except for the headlights, foglights and the rear lights. Inside it has a totally new instrument cluster and the dash board center with a new comand audio system. New DVD GPS and Bluetooth (optional extra). Also has a heated wind shield and an extra power point in the passenger foot well. Odd place, but that's where they put it.
My fantastic dealer, Ray Catena in Union, NJ told me that mine was the first 2008 released to a customer in the US. Three more were still out for delivery. I know and yes, I do feel good.
Anyhow, I traded in my 2004 G55 and drove home with the new one. The ride itself is totally different, the seat (I've only tested the driver's seat) is very comfortable, I did not wear down my tail bone, as I used to in the 2004. The acceleration is out of this world, since the kompressor is new to me, 2004 didn't have one. I am totally happy - except that the license plate bulb has burned out. lol

my 07 G55 has the new headlights and the new tail lights. In Europe they got that in april of 07 and I got mine in june so I guess that is why.
