Front Rotors

I need to change two front rotors on my 2005 G55 AMG.

Dealer is asking $500 for the set. Do you guys know cheaper place where I can get them?

I checked parts.com it says $71.30 per piece. Am I confused or is that just a very good price?

They're likely not OEM on parts.com.

Why don't you contact this guy: https://mbworld.org/forums/members/1...verarrow1.html

He'll take care of you, me thinks.

You have a $100k exotic and you're concerned about spending $500 on brake rotors??? How often do you think you'll need to change them, and do you really think that's a lot to pay for high performance AMG rotors?

Hey now... Maybe the guy is frugal (doubt it), and wants to save money.

My rotors and pads are almost 3 grand. I can pick them up for 1800 bucks. OEM. Sorry, but I'll use the other 1200 for other stuff.

I do all my own fluid changes. Oil, gear boxes, Brakes, coolant(s), change my own spark plugs (all 24 of the bastages), etc... If someone can save money, then why not?

Now, not to rank on the OP, but Jimmy does have a point. It's 500 bucks, manG. And go with OEM stuff. There's a reason why those aftermarket rotors are 71 bucks a piece.

I dont care about spending money on quality products. You just have no idea how crazy are price differences for the same products and services in the US. For example, I did my brake pads at one dealership for $400 and at the other one it was $670. Same holds true for other things. That's why I thoroughly research not to feel like a dumb *** in the end. I like getting to know the details as well (sort of hobby).

that's why i created this thread to find out why they are so much cheaper and why should i pay for AMG price. cause in most cases you just pay for OEM sign, which is made somewhere in Hungary and/or Taiwan anyways.

For example, I fixed my CD changer by taking it apart and realized it is made in Hungary and most parts could be ordered from somewhere else (small motors) like electronics shop.

in my opinion, it is boring just to come to dealer and let him charge you as much as he wants (and have no idea what it is about)

Go to dealership. Have them replaced. You pay more yes but less headache. Plus, the time you invest/waste/spend doing all this is money one way or the other.

It's ok to want to spend less for parts if you can. The money I save goes into our family vacation fund or little junior's piggy bank. I ordered brake components from parts.com for my E55 and they were shipped direct from the MB warehouse in Carol Stream, IL. They were the cheapest price w/shipping by far that I was able to find, and considering dealer markup with local taxes it was quite a steal.

Thanks. Family first, home second, then car, and then maybe friends

^ I'll go with family, friends and cars. But it's relative. True friends are rare hence I can understand putting cars before friends.
