I'm going to buy another G and looking at 05-07 AMG models. Where their any significant differences in the standard equipment during those years? Was the motor and suspension changed in 05? Appreciate any advice. Thanks...

2005 was the first year that the G55 was supercharged, at which time the suspension and brakes were also upgraded. In 2008, power was increased slightly and there were some interior and exterior upgrades which were further enhanced in 2009.

07 first year with bi-xenon headlamps, also got the "cornering" fog lamps
07 is first year to have the heated windscreen
07 has new "nano technology" paint
(05 to 07, only driver has the multi-control seat)

08 got the rear camera
08 is last year to have OEM factory tow hitch plate already installed/ready to use.
08 has upgraded nav system
08 got revised instrument cluster with two large dials rather than the older big center shape
08 steering wheel buttons layout changed
08 is last year AMG G model came with the 18" wheels seen since 2005

09 g55k comes with 19" wheels but on the ones I've looked at, the spare is still an 18"! i.e., not a "matching" full size spare - to me, this is ridiculous for a high end vehicle (the old jetta we have as well as the nice Audi both have matching spares)
09 gets ventilated seats and full lumbar/bolster controls for both front seats. Rear seats are revised a little from 08 firmness and/or design slightly.
09 may be first year with actual oem bluetooth for our modern phones - yes, they are really late to the gadget/tech party in the G.
09 has different grill slats
09 looses oem hitch and hitch mount in place of revised fuel tank cover plate. (Renntech has aftermarket hitch kit to be welded in place for ~$800)

2010 is first year for Hard Disk Drive nav base

I think 2010 also brought ambient lighting to the foot wells, which is very dim, and I am looking to upgrade it to something a bit brighter.

Obviously, the '05 is the start of the most desired version of the G which has the SC engine. The '05 was originally going to be the last year and they had a Grand Edition for it. They continued the model though and have made small updated. The 05-07 years appear to be very closely grouped in terms of pricing and features. The newer ones have more HP since 08 on it seems. Mine is for sale in the classifieds section (2005).

I think it may have been the late 2007 models that had this as a factory option.
