G 2012
A friend of mine is waiting until may for a G500, I told him major changes would come in 2012 and he should wait another few months.
Has anyone heard something serious out it? I know there were big discussions about this on the 2011 model and nothing changed.
thanks.

that's right , there will be a new engine in the G55 amg ( same as in the sls 63 amg the 5.5tt) beyond that the only mayor change's are the one's you can order at the AMG studio. The only changes are allready options to be ordered now, like the entertainment in the back with the special head rests.

I spoke with someone at the OKC, OK dealership about a month ago. He basically said MB is going away from the 6.3's altogether. He said they didn't go with 6.3 for the G55 because the engine compartment had to be enlarged to fit the 5.5 in the first place. The 6.3 will not fit in a G AMG. He said MB was going to start going with twin turbo 4's and low 5's.
Just what he said ha.
Just what he said ha.

Think of AMG as a "Parts Supplier"
The G-Class skipped over the whole 6.3L engine 'era' because volume commitments from the worldwide markets remained low and no one was going to pay for R&D and certification with no contract beyond 2010/12
IF however, the situation changed, and the G was given a stay of execution for another few years, just look at the new AMG platform (M157) and it's likely that the G could benefit after the M157 is launched on the high volume car models (S63/E63). Once demand slows down on these cars, usually 2 to 3 years after launch, AMG could then offer these "extra" engines and parts for use on the 463..."G63 AMG 5.5L V8 BiTurbo with 7-Speed MCT"
In most instances, if you want to know whats coming on the G , then look back 2 to 3 model years on the S or E.

Then the $64,000 question is: Is 2015 the last year?
Three things to watch for:
Three things to watch for:
- If 2015 is confirmed as the last production date, then G63 unlikely.
- If the date is extended beyond '15, then there should be a G63 announcement.
- If a G63 is announced, then the 2015 date has likely been extended.
