2011 G55 AMG
Hi guys,
I am considering getting a new 2011 G55 AMG. Anybody bought one recently? How much discounts are dealerships giving on these G55 or should I be looking at? Any good recommendations as to which dealerships in Southern California to make my purchase?
I know that certain out of state dealerships are giving $6000 off MSRP. If I can't find any good deals locally, it would be my first time buying a vehicle out of state and getting it shipped to California. I know that I would get big savings, but would there be too much trouble purchasing an out of state vehicle?
Thank you all so much for the advise and replies!!!

As mentioned on 6speed, you should be able to get an approx. 5K discount locally. Purchasing out of state is really not a hassle but remember you'll have to consider the transportation fees into the deal which predicated on distance could make the local deal better.

Just purchased a 2011 G55 today...
118k, and I didn't even try to haggle. Iridium silver. Went through the USAA buying service and called it good. Should be here at the end of the week. Purchase in Maine. Vehicle in NY.
BTW, can anyone comment on driving in real winter conditions on the stock wheels?

Oh that's definitely before tax. The really sweet deal here in Maine this the excise tax you get to pay each year, in addition to registration, tags, etc...
Based on MSRP...that'll be about $3k at time of registration. And then a slight decrease each year thereafter.
The G55 went out the door from the dealer, TTL and all at $123,300. Didn't try to bargain down, so could have possibly been had for less.

Thanks. Just picked it up this morning. Nice 3 hour drive back home. A few observations. I definitely do NOT find the G55 to be exceptionally rough. Guess that depends on expectations. I have a 2011 F-250 King Ranch that is a far more harsh ride. Getting used to the more compact quarters of the G55. I find the operation of non-touch screen to be labor intensive, but I'm getting used to that, and better at remembering the correct sequences. Still haven't read through the owner's manual, and the check out guy at the dealership was relatively clueless, and I had limited time.
Bought the tire/wheel protection for 60 months, and feel good about that. Signed up for some eco-protection for paint/interior and remain unsure ($500+). Drove back for 3 hours through PLENTY of bugs and dirt, and remain skeptical that the surface can be re-cleansed to the point of not sealing over debris. Would really appreciate anyone's perspective on this.
Plenty of power, but below 4k RPM and 85 mph for recommended break in of 1000 miles. Actually did grin to myself a few times!
Was thinking that a taller tire may be helpful (looks like there's room) on account of the crappy roads here. But, I really don't know much about what, if anything, is available with the stock rims, etc...you guys really seem to be in the know about this stuff.
Finally, thought it would be interesting to survey the engine techs that have built your engines...maybe already done before, but my guy is Ricardo Beck.
Thanks for any advice any of you can give. Out.

Beautiful car jassimaljaber!...Obviously great minds think alike since I think that we have almost identical cars...also love the silver forepsych! I just picked up mine last month for approx $118,000. I traded in my black'05(next to it in the picture). They gave me $50k for the trade('05 with 63k miles).

Now that I'm getting to know the G55
Just realized today that the G55 doesn't have remote start. Would be nice on the winter mornings in Maine. Saw some Viper product online.
Any chance of being able to play Pandora? Thinking I may need to get an Ipod touch for permanent hook up, so I can take my Iphone with me, without having to disconnect the cable in the glove compartment each time. Anyone?
And Mbrace cant lock the G55, really?
Still, no remorse. Absolutely love the vehicle. Already looking forward to the next AMG version, if/when available...

I don't understand why the 2011 G55 still uses the old AMG badges. I know it hasn't been updated body wise but doesn't it deserve the new badge anyways?

My pops just picked up a 2011 today, white with black leather. Took forever but settled with black leather. Was looking for white leather but no luck. We initially were going through our dealer in NY and priced a 2011 in black for 114k new, but wanted white and they had no allocations or couldnt locate one. We paid about 118k for the white g55 new out of miami.

It's nearly impossible to find the white in the cold weather areas...I had to have mine built so it took me 2 months to get it but it was well worth it to me. I'm sure that the white on black is pretty sweet too...I'd like to see some pics if you have them m3...

2011 G55 didn't want to start on colder mornings...
so took it in to dealership to see what was wrong. 3 weeks later after new fuel pump, new gas tank with internal fuel pump, etc...still no answer. Decided to give it back for a 2012 Cl550. All options available, magnetite black and about $10K. You can see the G55 in the background. Sad day. Especially miss the G55 now with snow on the ground. CL now in garage until probably late April.
Going to wait for the next G-whatever in 2012 or 2013.
