IMO, the best colors for the G-class are the magno paints (night black, platinum and alanite grey). Fits the car perfectly. Traditional black (standard, obisidian, platinum) hide the details unless you are close. You should consider magno black if you want black and want the paint to accentuate the details and shape of the car.

I put my order in as platinum black for the time being. I really would love magno night black and have seen a g55 in that paint but the owner doesn't seem to take care of his car so i can't see a good representation for how it holds up.
Living in the northeast it's going to snow, rain and sleet so if anyone has experience magno paint through a winter season that would be helpful.

I thought about the magno platinum matte but i heard you can't take the car to a car wash and it needs to be hand washed.

I have been driving a G55 that's got magno paint so I can assure you the info you got is wrong. In fact, the magno paint finish is far more resilient to car washes...the only restriction is that you shouldn't wax or buff/polish matte paint...which I consider a bonus.

How do you repair water spots, etc?

I don't have any water spots...there's no clear coat to get damaged...besides it doesn't rainmuch in Dubai. Our issues are heat, dust, and stone chips which the paint has handled well.

I ordered platinum silver with designo mystic red interior which should be a nice combo. I just don't have it in me to pull the trigger on the platinum matte although it sure is enticing.

That's the whe point...it's a nice truck that you can take off-road without worrying too much about screwing it up. Most people don't use it that way, but some of us do. It depends where you live I guess.

Yup, that's the "launch" color even though it's been optionally available for the G55 since 2010.

You cant convert Euro into US Dollars, it just does not work that way basically look for a advantage on the US dollars side. The exchange rate means nothing with durable goods from Europe. The best way I can explain it, take 19% off the Euro Price and do a 1 for 1 conversion on the Euro to Dollar and than you will have your price. Its not perfect but pretty accurate. Believe it or not all deals in Europe are funded in dollars than swapped to Euros at the last second by major corporations. The Euro is overvalued and on shaky ground and its existence is even in severe doubt in the next couple of years. Thus the cash hording of US Fiat currency by European banks and Governments and corporations.

I was told by the local MB dealer in Kuwait that the first batch or 2 would consist of forced options, specifically rear seat entertainment, distronic, and the front wrap around grill guard. Is that the same in the UAE?

I want none of those, so I'll have to wait until the system allows me to order one with the desired options. Looks like Aug/Sep production for now.

Yes that's true for all regions, but the contents of the various Startup Packages varies from region to region. That's why I opted for a September production date. It is required for all June-Aug production. Why don't you want Distronic?

Never used it in the G55, and only used it in the E63 yesterday for the first time. The front guard and rear seat entertainment I definitely don't want, but I might end up getting the Distronic. I'll be finalizing the order this week.

I'm deleting brush guard, rear mud flaps (liability in the desert), and TV tuner (limits your ability to have an auxiliary video source like iPhone or thermal camera). Distronic was not available for the G55, but it's an awesome and useful feature. Even when not active, it will warn you of an impending collision.

I was not told of the brush guard or rear seat entertainment. It's not even listed on the order sheet as options here in the US?

BTW- changed my order to designo magno platinum
