My first initial impression was that the fit and finish in the new interior is pretty good. It actually feels luxurious.
As far as shocks, I only rode in the g55 once about 6 years ago so dont really remember a tremendous amount but I think the ride is softer in the g63. Its still bouncy over bumps but not too harsh.
The sound of the exhaust is still muscle car like and the thing in a straight line is a rocket although I havent really stomped on it too hard during this break in period.
The eco stop/start takes some getting used to in traffic. It feels weird when the engine shuts off and then restarts with that muscle car sound.
The steering is still languidly heavy and corners must be taken slowly. All that though I expected so nothing too crazy.
Overall, I really like the truck. I think Mercedes has a great job with the update.

Local dealer got their first one off the truck. Went to look at it in person. Few observations:
#1) Looks great.
#2) Brush guard is all steel / high quality. Very nice.
#3) Side mirrors are bigger than I expected, in a good way. Very nice, blind spot indicators pretty useful.
#4) Addition of a tow hitch is fantastic. I'll never understand why this was deleted in my 2010
#5) Interior appointments / upgrades very nice. Much more modern. No center consol cup holder??
#6) ipod adapter moved to center armrest storage; not a fan. Liked it in the glove box, which seems larger, btw. Center arm rest only has the one storage area, not the 2 like in the former model
#7) Doors seem to close a little easier but still have the 'thunk'.
#8) The new Command system is NOT a touch screen. Very annoying. You must use the jog wheel/dial.
#9) The exhaust note was fine; but I think the G55 note is a little throatier and I like the sound of the G55 better
Nice subtle upgrades while still maintaining the heritage. The changes here aren't enough to make me want to swap out to the G63 from the G55. Had the Nav been touchscreen it would have been harder. This car didn't have the diamond stitch. The exclusive optoin is a $4500 option.
Jimmy, what options are you deleting?
