The G is the one stroking the heart, even when others are better.
Best part? At the end about the valet treatment. Range Rovers are a step behind the G on prestige.

Exactly, while everyone else went to more grocery getter attributes, The G stuck to it's guns. I was devastated when they said the GL was the G's replacement and ecstatic when they decided to keep it. I wish the Range Rover and Landcruiser had kept the two live axles (in the U.S.). Remember when Land Rover had those commercials with two guys hammering on the bottom side of a Range Rover with a sledge hammer? Those were the days.
Casio may make more accurate and technologically advanced watches, but I love my Rolexes. A Rolex, is a Rolex, is a Rolex! And there's nothing like a G Wagen.

2013 Range Rover vs. 2013 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG! - Head 2 Head Episode 32 - YouTube
finally a pro review
finally a pro review
.......nice video. Two things came to my mind after I watched the video. First is that I had not in the past associated the range rover with being fast, even the supercharged ones. I know narrator in the video was probably using manufacturers 0-60 estimates, but still impressive for the range river if true.
.......Also, I'm impressed how capable off road the G63 is with stock 20 inch rims and stock tires. I say this because there is a general consensus among non-AMG G-Class owners that the AMG versions are useless off road because.

'03 G500, '13 G63, '17 GLS63,
FWIW, I just traded our 2010 Range Rover Supercharged for a '13 G63. While the Range Rover was amazing, the G is classic. We never intended to keep the Rover that long. New Range Rover's are very nice and trendy cars but the G is an heirloom. My parents bought their '03 G500 new and it is now under my care with the intention that one of the grandchildren will own it someday.
My 2-year-old had never been so excited to get in a car as he was with the G63 so I can tell you who the next owner will be already.

While I will be keeping my 2012 Cayenne Turbo, this is exactly the reason I have ordered a G63 (matte silver, black wheels, grey/black with diamond stitching, and piano black). It is like a great mechanical watch... And probably better value than some!
Really wish I could get the 6x6 though!

True, but G Wagens run, like Rolexs, and I use mine and not just collect them. I came within an inch of buying a Patek, but a friend of mine, who is the one of the managers of an official Patek dealer, told me never to buy one, because he knows that I use my watches. He said that Pateks weren't meant for wearing (just collecting I guess). And collectible they are. He said that the turn around on a Patek repair was 18 months and that most Patek owners who use their watches spend more time waiting for them to get repaired than wearing them. Rolexes on the the other hand are made to be used.
Pateks are more like Range Rovers, Aston Martins and Ferraris. Prestigious, but extremely high maintenance. No experience with with with the other brands.
I have a lot of "collectible" items, but I use all them, we'll, 99% of them. My favorite thing in the whole world is hunting dangerous game with "Fine English Doubles". My friends think I'm nuts, as 99% of these guns will never see the Dark Continent and just hang on the walls, sit in the gun rooms of posers, but not me. Those guns were made to hunted, and hunt them, I will. That's why you buy gun or umbrella insurance and I'm not afraid to get them scratched up.
G Wagens were made to be used, just like Rolexes. Pateks, A Lange & Sohne, Jaeger LeCoutre, Roger Dubuis...... Would you hunt, fish, hike, scale mountains with them? I hunt, fish, hike, etc. with my Rolexes. These other brands, too high maintenance for me. They're more like Land Rovers, LMs, etc. I need man style watches and vehicles.

this thread is pathetic. spend less time worrying about what valets think or what mechanical watch your SUV resembles and just drive the things, possibly even offroad.
Embarrassing.

'03 G500, '13 G63, '17 GLS63,
The Rolex comment is funny, but I agree. While I lean towards other brands, there is no denying the Rolex is built like a tank just like the G. That said, I still wouldn't compare the Range Rover to Patek Philippe as those watches are timeless. Range Rovers simply don't age well. There's a reason that, even with the purchase of the G63, we kept our '03 G500 10 years (and a long time to come) and the '10 Range Rover SC only 3...
