New G55 Owner, Confused to say the least
Hey guys, I just joined the forums as I am in the process of purchasing my G55. I love the wagon but the 2005 just seems a bit outdated so I have decided to facelift it to resemble the g63.
I got the exterior covered but in terms of the interior, I NEED new seats. Should I purchase g63 diamond stitched seats or take it to a custom shop to replicate the seats? Also the middle console needs some work, any suggestions? Bluetooth? LASTLY, I cant decided between 24in and 22in wheels.
Any input would be appreciated guys, Ill be sure to update with pics as soon as the trucks finished

A good shop should be able to improve your seats for much cheaper than replacement seats will cost. Find out who your local ferrari shop uses for custom interiors and start there.

Hello,
Congrat on your G55 purchase. For better quality ride, more rubber, 22". If you live in a city where road conditions are good, then 23" or 24" would look good. Just remember more tire options are available for 22".
Please let us know how we can further assist you.

I had an 03 updated to 09ish and have a pending sale, I bought an 08 and the seats are AMAZING!!!!
way better than the 09 -12 which more then a handful of people agree.
The 08 seats are like the 05 seats with a boat load more cushion . The 09 seats are
completely redesigned, look much better but don't feel the same or as good IMO.
I also heard which could be hearsay thats W211 E55 seats can be fitted with some
technical wire splicing. MBW guys (dont bash me if im wrong)
If you want diamond stitch its actually easiest in your seats BUT wont look like
the 63 seats because your seat design is diff as mentioned above. I got a quote in my 03
for around 2K Seats and 4 doors, and 400 more for the gate.
There is a company in LA that sells inserts for your entire interior and headliner
but it wont be cheap, but it is very doable. PM if you want the info.
So to answer your Q, just have your seats re-done, I can drive for hours
and hours with NO fatigue .
I did a full facelift, update and wheels, best money spent..
Also the guys @ 3WD are awesomeness and know there sh#t.

The e55 seats do fit but do need a full wiring re-work (I just got them for mine and will be tackling the wiring in the next day or two). Now as far as the wheels, do yourself a HUGE favor and stay away from 23 & 24" wheels. years ago when I first bought mine, it had the stock 18" G55 wheels, after 3-4 years I thought it needed an upgrade so I went to 24" wheels and absolutely HATED them. the already rough ride feels like its driving on stone tires like the flintstones car. remember that the larger the wheel, the lower the aspect ration of the tire and thus less ride cushioning. So after about 8 months with the 24" wheels, I gave up and put 20" wheels on and love the compromise of great looks and great ride quality.

I have a 16 with diamond weave seats and they are amazing. Not only do they look great, but they are very comfortable and luxurious. It often throws people off because the exterior is so raw. as someone else has mentioned see if there is a good leather shop in your area that can do some custom work for you.
Regarding the wheels, you are really going to compromise the ride and suspension if you go 22+, the G is a unique ride. On smooth roads it's excellent on lightly bumpy roads it can be a little squirelly, I couldn't imagine changing the wheels.
If if I were you I would look for a "new" set of g63 take offs in 20 in. They would fit perfect and you won't have issues.

Thank you for sharing my thread
I purchased CLS63 seats and had to rewire the plugs for all seat motors so they function with my 2002 G500 seat module. After couple days of tracking all the wires down I got it all figured out and to work. All seat functions from G500 seat controller work just fine.
**The only thing is that the extra functions (active seat bolsters, seat massage, side airbag) that came with the CLS63 seats will not work (and Im totally fine with that). I will be wiring ventilated seat function to a separate switch that I will have on the dash or center console.
I will try to post some closeup shots of the re-wired plugs in the next couple days.
