I just took delivery of my custom built G63 in Platinum Magno paint. For context, I ordered the vehicle 4 years prior and patiently waited for my build to arrive. Within the first 24 hours after delivery, I notice this giant stain/defect on the hood of the vehicle at night. The next morning when the sun is shining, it’s vanished. Clearly not what I was expecting after the long wait and on a $225k vehicle.
Now the dealership tells me this could be a defect in the paint. Possibly the paint wasn’t fully cured when the vehicle was wrapped for transport and the glue or some contaminant soaked into the hood. I was also told by someone else at the dealership that they were trying to figure out who detailed the vehicle prior to delivery. With both scenarios, I’m not sure what occurred but at the same time it’s irrelevant. I shouldn’t have to be dealing with this on a brand new vehicle.
The dealer is offering to repaint the hood or attempt to wrap it in PPF to hide the defect. I brought up concerns about it affecting the value on a new vehicle and they said they wouldn’t paint it if they were me, they’d just live with it. I however will never be able to live with these glaring defect.
Looking for any input on what a real solution should look like from anyone with experience. At night In sunlight
You waited 4 years?? And almost 1/4 million bux? That car better be perfect in every way, shape and form. Simply unbelievable they are trying to pass the buck! Take them for every dime you can!

I agree but why did you have to wait for 4 years? this Magno paint is not uncommon and it's just a normal ordering process in the US. This is also one of the reasons I stay away from Magno paint finishes.
May be just ask the dealer to order a hood in that paint finish and replace the existing hood.
I picked up a 2026 in Magno Hyper Blue and it had a decent size white spot on it. The dealer said moisture got under the wrap during transport. They heated the spot up and the white disappeared. There is a thread on the regular G forum with more details.
What a PISSER!! If I were in your shoes I would suggest they try heating it up a bit like RJR said. Failing that I would have them repaint the hood. But I wouldn't like it. Sorry this deal ended up like it has. Hard to believe it rolled out of the factory like that.

Whatever to make it perfect or close enough. New hood, and or repaint. Then forget and enjoy. Should not affect value that much. I would be upset too, but you have to let it go at some point.
