Completed restoration of 1964 Mercedes 220S
Well, it is done. The restoration on our 1964 Mercedes 220S Fintail. Many thanks for all the viewers and support help to assist us in bringing back from the grave this wonderful German vehicle.
We purchased it for only $ 500 but spent over $ 12,000 to restore it. It had many, many problems and many times just wanted to " throw in the towel " and give up. Waiting for the DMV license plate, " Gebete" , which in German means prayers. Many prayers , many prayers.
It has a M180 engine, two Zenith 35/40 INAT carburetors, brake booster, 4 speed manual on the column,
aftermarket radio/stereo system, aftermarket floor carpet and seatbelts, aftermarket fuel filter assembly in fuel tank, aftermarket seat cushions and covers. The engine, transmission , driveline, rear axle differential
are OEM and original.
We have two 3 inch binders on parts / documents. We want to keep the vehicle in the family.
A beautiful German car....... they do not make them the way they used to.

Restoration of 1964 Mercedes Benz 220S.
The original color was white with red vinyl seat covers and red floor carpet.from Stuttgart, Germany.
We tried to keep the vehicle as original as we could.
The engine and the manual 4 speed transmission has not been rebuilt.
We live in the Southern California area and have not seen another one like it.
Thank you all for your enthusiasm over this vehicle.

The Red interior looks good.
Enjoy your hard work and this wonderful car and drive it.
Bit jealous as you do not see those cars on road at all.
Car design was so much better back in the day.
What a stunning car. You've done a great job with the restoration. Enjoy it..! A well deserved effort..
A friend of mine is considering buying a '1963 220S (photos below). But, the original interior was trashed and replaced by some low quality, locally made interior.
Do you know, or can recommend a source where can he get a complete interior kit for it? European suppliers are preferred, but all recommendations are welcome.
