M/B Policy...
I was quite disturbed today to learn that the "Starmarque" Warranted pre-owned vehicle I have purchased from an M/B dealership Nov 2004 had been in a collision and according to the previous owner the dealership knew about it.
I would have thought that an accident would preclude a car from qualifying as being sold as a "Starmarque Warranted" car. Could you please advise me if Mercedes Benz has a policy on this matter.
I have sent a couple of emails to M/B but as yet no reply.
Maybe someone visiting the Forum could answer this for me

Problem found in CARFAX Vehicle History Report"

It says more, but I think your issue is witht the carfax issue. If they ran the report and found an accident, I think this would be a "Problem". Further, if the Carfax report was clean, then as stated, the dealer knew the car had been in an accident and should have been reported to Carfax.
Either way, I think there is a difference in value for cars that have been in accidents. If the dealership knew about the damage, they should have informed you. Did you ask before purchasing? What did you buy?
I'm actually in Australia but i would think the same policy would apply world wide....no i didn't ask if it had been in an accident i just would'nt have thought Mercedes "cream of the crop" cars would have included those that had been in accident, the car i bought was a 2000 CLK55. How i found out about it was i have had so much trouble with it i rang the original owner to verify the milage which was 43,000 km's it has just turned 55,000 km's i bought it in Nov 2004. He verified the milage.
New parts....Steering linkage, instrument cluster, air conditioning compressor, EGR valve, and now it's at the dealership with an engine knock, they replaced the timing chain and tensioner but no difference so they are going to squirt some goo into it to try and get rid of exess carbon and see if that helps....too many problems for my liking in a car that has just travelled about 30,000 miles and cost around $A200,000 new here in Aus...
