too good of a deal?

Hi fellas, I posted this on CLK55 forum but felt like this was more relevant in this forum.

I have been in the market for a CLK 55 (or an M3) for a couple of months. I just found a great deal on 2005 CLK 55 with lighting pkg and nav. The car has 6800 miles and overall looks good upon visual inspection. The only problem that I found were: little scratch on the rear panel, two side mirror blinkers with condensation (blinkers with water in them), and fron driver side door ding. The dealer told me that they are gonna fix everything if I decide to buy the car and it will look brand new. I am going to test drive the car on monday to see if the car is mechanically sound.

Now here is the thing that really bugs me. The price is $52,900 and the car is not certified preowned (according to them, the car is too new to be certified... hmmm ). The dealer assured me that the car has no problem with it and I am just lucky to come across this deal. Carfax checks out fine with no record of factory buy back (i.e. lemon). Any thoughts?

What is the original MSRP? Judging from your description I would also want to know when the car was first titled and/or placed in service. The warranty will be shortened by that amount. States so it the legaleeze paperwork. If the stealer tries to say otherwise have him put it in writing that you will be covered even if it means he has to eat that cost himself.

Is this a MB Dealer? I've never seen the mirror turn lights with water in them, doesn't mean it does not happen, but I would question where the car was stored outside or in? amdeutsch is correct the date the car is placed in service is when the warrenty starts. Unless this car was used by MB then they can start the warrenty when they sell to a private party. In the case of the MB Challenge cars that are used for the events for 2004. The cars where given new brakes tires and gone over and sold with a new warrenty. I would never recommned buying one of those cars, but I use it as an exsample of how a warrenty from MB could work. Good luck with the purchase, I was in my dealers showroom getting some work done yesterday and they had two E55's in the showroom I came close to looking at purchasing one, but knew my best friend (wife) would not think the purchase would be a wise one.

This statement does not make sense unless, like srknutson points out, it was used in the MB Challenge. 6800 miles is too many for it to be a demo...even if they did use CLK55s for demo machines. What are they hiding?

CLK55's were used alot in both days of the 2004 Challenge! 6800 would be alot of miles for the cars in the Challenge most were under 2K.
