Are you refering to just having no handles and a smooth door and then having a remote only opening?

shaving

yes, he is refering to that. if you plan to show your car then i would recommend it. if not, its not really worth your hard earned cash. unless, its not hard earned i guess. but excellent addition.

These are some pretty heavy doors - you'd have to get very strong solenoids to pop 'em.

Autoloc's basic system for cars that have factory alarms will run you about $300, plus poppers for $20-30 each. I've heard both good and bad about them, but it's a good start.

I had looked into them for my crx, but then was just unsure about the longevity of the system for everyday use, so ended up putting rear door handles on instead, so that there were no keyholes in the doors at least. If it's not a show car, I wouldn't recommend it.

Of course, if you do get 'em, I'd assume that you'd throw some pics up here. Good luck.

It doesn't cost anything to throw some pics up.

I find the handle-less look too "bald" for me too! Body coloured handles are more than enough. In fact, I find that the black handles actually look better than body colour handles on some colours like bordeaux red or paprika orange.

well, those pics make me understand why some people didn't like my starless grille pics... something is missing and i can't reconcile that image w/ my mental one.

if anything, i would have it smooth but expose the keyhole and IF sensor... like 2 small circles.

Yeah, I have to agree that it's too "bald." Although the concept of a shaved door handle is very nice for show cars, it seems that something's "missing" out of the picture Buell provided. The door handle "breaks" the lines of the car in just the right place to make it slightly irregular.

Pretty simple - you hit a button on the fob for the kit after hitting unlock on your MB fob that pops the door open slightly.

It's a very cool thing to do, as long as it works. If you do it every day, the chance keeps getting greater of the poppers not working correctly, since if the alignment of them is off a little, they don't work properly. It's tough to keep them working properly.

Shaved door handles are usually used in show-cars, not everyday drive-to-work cars.

Thumbs down

Imagine what happens if you happen to get into an accident and the car catches on fire (not likely in a MB, but still possible). How are rescuers supposed to get to you if there are no door handles? MB's door handles specially designed for maximum leverage (for decades now) , unlike the fingernail breaker pathetic "lift up and pull" type that you find on just about every Japanese and domestic car out there.

well if there was an accident that was serious enough that the rescuer would need to open the door that quickly do you think that the door could be opend so easily? the door would probably be jambed from the impact

If you've ever looked closely at a door, there are these clear things called windows. Rumor is that you can apply some force to them, and they shatter, though I'm waiting for dyno results for verification.

Like everything else, you have to live with your choices. If someone dies from a rescuer not being able to open their doors, then I guess that they won't be able to complain, will they?
