Transmissions: MB vs Chrysler
I am confused about the Daimler Chrysler transmission issue.
1) Which MB transmissions are being used in the Chrysler-branded vehicles?
2) Are they the IDENTICAL transmissions that are found in any MB-branded vehicles?
3) What are the models of these cars? (MB and Chrysler please)
Thanks in advance,
M
He tells me that Chrysler is currently assembling an auto 6-speed tranny for use in their 2008 lineup.
Since MB's these days come with either a 7speed G-tronic or an AMG 5-speeder I doubt that Chrysler is using MB tranny's.

p.s. What about the Chrysler Crossfire that is supposedly the same as an SLK?
p.p.s. CLS55? NICE RIDE MAN!

Thanks for the info.

p.s. Have you bought any DCX stock yet?
DCX: I have no idea whether they would be good or bad as an invesment, but I do know that passenger cars (MB, Chrysler, etc.) are just one part of the DCX conglomerate, so MB by itself doing well may not be enough to make DCX a good investment.

Only about 25% of my "portfolio" is in individual stocks, but I like to speculate a little bit - 75% is in mutual funds. For me, I think it's a pretty bad idea because I don't "devote a lot of time to understand the story and having a strong investment thesis". I like the way you worded that, by the way.
Since I bought mine on 11/15/05 it has galloped from $50.03 to $52.61 as of 5/31/06 - haha
Thanks for telling me that DCX is a conglomerate, I haven't had this long enough to have received the annual report. The broker told me last November that he "doesn't like car stocks", so he didn't know much more than I did. His advice was that Toyota would be a better way to go, but that was $100 per share at the time.
That conglomerate scenario used to be true for Porsche in that the cars were a miniscule segment of a huge german engineering firm.
Thanks,
M
