Parents are a Hard crowd to please!

Any teenagers out there with an mb that there parents payed for please help me, or if anyone else has advice. Well I am 16 years old (please do not give me the lexture) and I have showed my parents just about every car from a toyota supra to an Hummer H3. They do not like any of the cars I pick out. But my mom loves mercedes but my dad wants me to get a Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer but I dont like Fords at all and the Expedition is huge and bulky. Please help me convince my parents to let me have an ML55! They said I could spend 25k so I want to get the most for my money by buying a used mercedes. Please help

Oh by the way I am taking over my dads user name because he sold the ML because we were moving to circleville and no longer uses the site.

I was going to say. 16 with a son?!

Yes, they are a hard crowd to please. Explain to them how safe the ML is, etc...

Why the ML?

Unless you have a compelling reason, why get an SUV over the equivalent saloon? Generallys speaking, saloons offer better power/weight ratios, better handling and lower roll-over risk, among other things.

They also offer AWD these days. If you need cargo space, get the equivalent wagon.

Try to get a warranty if you must have a pre-owned ML.

Fast, has AWD, low-range for the occasional off-roading ventures, as well as the power for it. Since it's an AMG, the handling is significantly improved compared to the regular MLs, and most other SUVs. Plus you have a bagillion safety features.

Oh, and did I mention that it's one of [b]the[/i] safest SUVs out there? I think it got 5 stars in crash test ratings.

that's what i did, i told my parents all about the safety features and how the handling and braking was second to none when compared with the cobalt and cavalier, i also told them it was 1.8L V-4....jst didn't mentio it was supercharged..lol...hit them with safety and the fact that it is a solid car + its a brand u can trust (make ur own jkz) and they last for a long time

Yeah those are some good facts to tell them. Oh and I really want an ML because I love SUV's and the ML's are getting cheaper and cheaper by the day so that betters my chances of getting one. And I dont know what a saloon is. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Fair enough. Like I said, try to get a warranty if you must get an ML.

PS: Saloon = sedan.

Insurance for an AMG (any AMG) for a 16-year-old driver must be stratospheric ... if it's available at all.

Probably the least-safe vehicle there is is a 150-mph SUV.

All you can do is keep showing your parents the facts about the ML. Maybe get a test drive with them? If they're still set on a different car for you...well...it's their money, but that sucks none the less.

Circleville!! I live in Columbus during the school season. Are you planning on attending OSU? That'd make 2 Mercedes enthusiasts at one of the largest Universities in the world...(I swear I'm the only one, AFAIK)

OMG we just got back from the dealership and guess what, i got it!!!well since my parents used to have an ml430, they could understand when I told them the safety stuff and even though they knew that the amg was much more powerful than the old ml430 we went and got my very own black ml55 amg with nice options for around $26k and got a warranty with it! Oh and I went to the progressive site and it said the monthly bill would be $175. Oh and my thing to convince my parents was that I whined that they bought my brother an ml500 and that they are not that different (even though his ml was nothing but trouble). Oh and I showed them every bad thing about an eddie bauer. Thanks for the advice everyone!

No I plan on going to GA Tech. But if my grandfather wont let me live in his vacation home in Duluth, GA than I will probably go to OSU. He is rethinking letting me stay there in my college years because the house is quite nice and my parents told him about this one time when I had a little party when he let me stay home by myself over night and they came home to a pretty messy house.
